Title: The Communication Skills using English Language at Rizwoods colleges Senior

High students.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the poor communication using English language at

Rizwoods colleges Senior High students during the school year 2017-2018

Specifically, this would answer the following sub-problems:

1. Does the students have knowledge of communication using English language in

terms of:

1.1 Reading books, dictionary, and magazines every daily life

1.2 Taking notes all the difficult words

2. Are the students ample communication using English language in terms of:

2.1 Oral communication

2.2 Writing essay

3. Are there available libraries to help students learning in terms of:

3.1 Applying the knowledge daily life to enhance their communication skills

3.2 Providing accurately knowledge about the importance of communication

using English language


CHAPTER 1

The Problem and its Scope

Rationale

English communication skills is a part of our life, it is the second language that we are

going to used especially when we do applying for a job. Speak English language it

challenge students with advanced language to strengthen their speaking and listening

abilities. This course is to give students improvement with their English communication.

It is a complex skills which involves social and psychological factors. Authentic

communication between persons of different languages and cultural backgrounds

(McIntyre et al 2002). Spolsky (1989) stated that a language may be learned for any one

or any collection of practical reasons. The important of this reasons to the learner will

determine what degree of effort he or she will make, what he she will pay for learning.

This study draws on qualitative and quantitative data to insights the students from

perspectives of students and faculty. It examines how English language proficiency

affects academic and social adjustment, identifies useful types of support, and considers

the effects of English proficiency on intercultural learning.

Between the native English speakers and those who acquired it over a years, there is

a basic and significant difference which rest on the intercultural differences between

English speakers who use troublesome gap that carries with it negative implications and

effects on global organizations worldwide.


Differences in education and expectations, listening, direct writing styles, critical

analyses, class participation, oral communication, and vocabulary present difficulties

(Berman & Cheng, 2001; Holmes, 2004; Lee, 1997). Local students may resist working

with international students on group project because of their weak writing or presentation

skills (Coleman, 1997; Parks & Raymond, 2004).


Theoretical Background

Speaking English is one of the productive skills, which is evidence of a students that

how much he or she is competent in language. Moreover, much of communication is

made through speaking. In short, learning a language remains incomplete if does one not

achieve competence in speaking, Speaking can be realized as the most common way to

convey the message to others and the ability to communicate effectively is basic

requirement which needs to be taken seriously in English education. (Zadi et.al 2015)

speaking is one of four basic skills in learning foreign language besides listening, reading

and writing. Normally, Learners in a FEL context do not use the language in authentic

situations. They possess inability in communicating appropriately and correctly. This

leads to learners’ lack of self-confidence and avoidance when communicating with native

English speakers. (Oradea 2012).

This theory discuss that the English language is the second language for educational

learning. Thus it can build global economy in which they can speak, communicate to one

another. In gathering data the researchers decided to have a test questionnaire such as

habitual scale which can be used data analysis and tabular presentation to formulate data

interpretation. The researchers will also cite some various negative and positive effects

of communication skills using English language to students’


Academic performance. Lastly, as a remedy to the researchers’ problem, improvement

of the students’ academic status most especially on their knowledge in communication

and ethics is the solution and will be main output of the study.
