Description
The memory beetle (Ptiliidae Laciniatis Pendentibus [undetermined]) is a genetically engineered
species, with genetic code originating from the feather-winged beetles (‘Arcrotrichis rosskotheni’),
an evasive species native to what was previously known as ‘North America’, and the city outskirts
before becoming extinct in the aftermath of ‘The Company’. This species of beetle possesses
electroreceptive genetic code once common in the land-dwelling echidna (Mammalia, Tachyglossus
Aculeatus).
Similar to the echidna, the memory beetle is quite reserved, hiding out in overhanging foliage, and
under any overhanging rock/platform, where if threatened, can drop down and embolise any
intruders who threaten their habitat.

This insect will attach itself to any mammalian ear, and partially burrow into the ear canal, before
bypassing the middle ear, and attaching to the auditory nerve directly; sending their own electrical
impulses to the brain to trigger hallucinations.
The fringes, on the antennae and protruding appendages emerging from the covered underbelly of
the insect connect and produce electrical signals (nerve impulses) further down into the ear.

These animals often work together in large swarms, (each bug being only 1-5 mm) but it only takes
one to immobilise an adult mammal for 2-5 seconds. They will warn each other using the electrical
impulses from their appendages to communicate to wider group.
