The mission of the City of Fulton Parks and Recreation
Department is to develop, operate and maintain park and
recreation facilities as well as administer quality recreational,
cultural and social programs and events that enhance the
quality of life for the citizens of Fulton.

Facility Reservations
Many of the City’s park facilities can be reserved for special events such as family reunions, birthday
parties, company outings, etc. Detailed information on the City’s outstanding recreational facilities,
as well as the Facility Reservation Policies, can be found on the Parks and Recreation website.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
At times, it may be necessary to cancel a scheduled event due to inclement weather. Cancellation
decisions will be made by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event and posted on the cancellation hotline
(592-3195). If it becomes necessary to cancel an event after 4:30 p.m., a Parks & Recreation staff
member will make the decision at the event.
If an event is cancelled due to inclement weather, no refunds will be given. Events will be
rescheduled whenever possible. In some cases, participants will be given the option of applying all
or part of their registration fee to a future program.
Program Sponsorship
Team sponsorships and program sponsorships are extremely vital to the success of all Parks &
Recreation programs. With the support of local businesses, we are able to continually offer quality
recreational opportunities to the citizens of Fulton. By participating in the Parks and Recreation
sponsorship program, businesses are able to show their support for the community while receiving
valuable publicity and advertising at the same time. For more information on how your business can

Service and Dedication


The City of Fulton has a variety of environmental initiatives that are available to the residents. The
ones specific to the Parks and Recreation department are: Memorial Benches, Memorial Trees,
Park Landscaping, Golf Course Landscaping, and special events. For individuals interested in
participating in a service or dedication project with the Parks department or the City visit our website

Many of the Parks & Recreation programs require pre-registration, while others allow for on-site
registration.
Three Ways To Register:
1. Walk In: Stop by our office in the lower level of City Hall, 18 East Fourth St., Fulton, MO
65251 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday). We accept
check, cash, money order, and debit/credit (Discover, MasterCard, and Visa). A
three percent surcharge will be added to any credit card purchase.
2. Mail: Registration forms can be mailed in with check, cash, or money order to Attn: Parks

3. Fax/E-Mail: Registration forms can be faxed or e-mail in but payment must be mailed or
delivered. Registration isn’t official until payment is received.
**ALL REGISTRATION FEES ARE DUE AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.**

The City of Fulton Parks and Recreation wants all individuals regardless of income level to have the
opportunity to participate in the programs offered. The Recreation Department has a scholarship
application form that can be completed by interested participants to help assist with the cost of the
programs we provide. The form only can be picked up in person by the applicant at our office.
The applicant must bring proof of all sources of monthly income and assistance (pay check stub,
food stamps, social security, etc.). In order to meet the registration deadline, please make your
financial aid request at least two days prior to the program’s registration deadline. One form will
be completed for all household family members and will remain on file through the current year.

The Fulton Parks & Recreation Department depends greatly on volunteer coaches. We are always
searching for individuals who can serve as mentors and positive role models for the children of our
community. If you are extremely energetic, enthusiastic, possess a positive attitude and truly
enjoy teaching and working with young children, the Parks & Recreation Department needs you.

Join us for the 2018 soccer league season! The league is open to participants
kindergarten through eighth grade. Divisions will be developed based on
number of registrations. Participants will receive a team t-shirt but will need to
provide shin guards.

The 2018 season will mark the 14th year for the league. Flag football is a
non-contact sport which teaches both boys and girls grades first through sixth

Going into its 38th season, the Fulton Wrestling Club is one of Fulton’s oldest
and most popular youth sports programs. Participants will practice two to three
times per week and have the opportunity to participate in competitive
tournament on the weekends. While there is additional cost for tournament
entry, wrestlers may compete in as many or as few tournaments as they like.
The season begins in November and concludes in early March with district,
regional and state wrestling tournaments. Parent information meeting will take
place November 5th at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall.
Registration Deadline: October 23 Practice Days/Times: TBA
Practice Begins: November 7 Registration Fee: $90 (Multiple children.)

This program is open to both boys and girls in grades first through sixth. Participants
will learn basic cheers, chants and some fun dance moves. Cheerleaders will then
cheer at a youth flag football game on the final practice night. Each participant will
receive a t-shirt and pom-pom set.
Registration Deadline: August 29 Registration Fee: $55
Clinic: Tuesday, September 4, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Practices: Tuesdays: September 11, 18, 25, October 2 & 9 (5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.)

The league is open to kids grades kindergarten through eighth and divisions will be developed

Game Nights & Times: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday (6:00, 7:00, & 8:00 p.m.)
Grab a team and join us for an exciting fall softball
season. This years fall league will be a double-header
league for Co-Ed participants. Games will be played
on Tuesday nights. Teams will be guaranteed a
minimum of 8 games. Teams will provide their own
uniform.

This game is not just for kids! One of America's favorite playground
games is one of the latest crazes that is sweeping Mid-Missouri and
the nation. Come relive some of the glory days of the elementary
school playground. Teams will provide their own uniform. Teams
must consist of eleven players.

Volunteer Coaches Needed


Are you interested in coaching a youth sport? The Parks & Recreation Department is always
looking for volunteer coaches who are dedicated to serving as a positive role model to the youth
of our community. Coaches will be responsible for teaching the children good sportsmanship,
discipline, and teamwork, as well as the rules and fundamental skills of the game. Parks and
Recreation has coaching opportunities in the sports of baseball, softball, soccer, flag football,
kickball and wrestling. If you are interested in coaching a youth sport, stop by the Parks and
Recreation office and fill out a coaching application today!

Employment Opportunities
The Parks & Recreation Department has many seasonal employment opportunities available. If
you love sports and recreational activities, are at least 16 years of age with a valid driver’s
license, have prior work or participation experience in the relevant activity, and have a strong
desire to work in a fun and exciting environment, then stop by the Parks & Recreation office
today to find out what opportunities are currently available. Most positions will require some
evening and weekend hours. Current positions vary per season, but we are always looking for

8th Annual Pumpkins in the Park
Put your artistic talents on display and donate a carved pumpkin to the 8th Annual
Pumpkins in the Park. This event will take place at Memorial Park on Tuesday, October
30th. All carved pumpkins that are donated will be lit Tuesday evening and be on
display through Halloween. Pumpkins will be awarded prizes for the categories of
Scariest, Most Original, and Biggest Pumpkin.

Trout Fishing Season


The Fulton Parks & Recreation is excited to announce an amazing winter Trout Fishing opportunity
right here in Fulton! The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), in cooperation with Fulton
Parks & Recreation, has arranged to stock rainbow trout in Veterans Park Lake this winter. This
program is part of the Community Assistance Program (CAP). The CAP is designed to provide more
and better local fishing opportunities. The cost of stocking trout in Veterans Lake will be evenly
divided between MDC and Fulton Parks & Recreation. About 800 rainbow trout will be stocked in the
lake around November 1st. Most of the fish being stocked will be 10-13 inches long and weigh about
3/4 pound. Some larger trout (up to 6 pounds) will also be released.
The following special regulations will apply to Veterans Park Lake:
 All trout must be released unharmed from November 1 to January
31.
 During the catch and release period, only flies, artificial lures and
unscented soft plastic baits may be used.
 After January 31, trout may be kept with a daily creel limit of 4 per
day.
 Anglers age 16-64 must possess a valid fishing permit.
 Anyone keeping trout must possess a trout permit.

3rd Annual Youth Trout Tournament


If you enjoy trout fishing then join us for the 3rd annual youth trout fishing
tournament. Bring your kids out to open the trout season and catch some
rainbow trout in the freshly stocked lake. This event is open to participants
ages seven to seventeen. Any type of artificial lure, flies or bait can be used.
Live bait (worms, minnows, etc.) can not be used during the tournament.

Entry Fee: $5 per child Ages: 7-17
Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk
Fulton’s 14th Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk is open to all ages and will
take place on Fulton’s beautiful Stinson Creek Walking Trail. The first 100
entries will receive a free t-shirt. Winners in each age group will receive
a free Thanksgiving turkey and award medal.
Registration Deadline: Oct. 30 Date: Nov. 17

Entry Fee: $20 adults, $10 kids ages 4-17.

Fulton Wish Tree


Fulton’s 5th Annual Wish Tree will be lit November 30th in Veteran’s Park and will
stay on display until News Year Day. The Wish Tree is located off of Richard Ault
Drive by the Amphitheatre in Veteran’s Park. Last year the tree held more than
12,000 LED Christmas lights and we are planning to expand on that this year.
Please stop by to admire the wish tree and drop your holiday wish in the Wish
Box. More information on the Wish Tree and Festival of Lights can be found on
page 12 of this guide. Time: 5:30 pm

Field of Joy
In addition to the Festival of Lights, Fulton Parks and Rec. has partnered with
the Callaway County Salvation Army to bring you the 3rd Annual Field of Joy.
This display will be located to the south of the Wish Tree across Richard Ault
Drive on Murphy baseball field. What is the Field of Joy? It is an opportunity
for your family, church, business, or non-profit to spread the joy of Christmas
by providing a lighted Christmas tree. You will have the opportunity to
purchase space where you can set up and decorate a Christmas tree. You
will provide the tree and decorations. Set-up will occur between November
27th—28th. All trees will be lit November 30th at 5:30pm and will be on dis-
play until New Years Day.

Intro to Wrestling
This six session course will introduce young kids to the sport of wrestling. Class/practice sessions will

Soccer Camp
Fulton Parks & Recreation has teamed up with the William Woods Men’s Soccer team to offer a
Thursday evening soccer camp for those individuals kindergarten through eight grade interested in
taking their soccer game to the next level.

Digital Photography Class


This course provides an introduction to the fascinating technology that is catapulting the photographic
world into the 21st century. We'll discuss the basics of digital photography, equipment, software,
printing, Internet and e-mail use, along with commercial & personal applications.

Beginning Cake Decorating Class


This is a great starter class to teach participants various cake making, icing, and decorating
techniques. After the class is concluded participants should be able to create pearl, shell, and reverse
borders and have the experience of working with pipe gel. Open to individuals 12 and older and class
is limited to the first twelve registered participants. Time: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Fulton Bike Club


Continuing for its second year, Fulton Parks and Recreation will be offering the community an
opportunity to join the Fulton Bike Club. This club will meet the third Sunday of every month from
2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. March to October at Memorial Park. The club is open to all ages and skill
levels and is an opportunity for anyone that enjoys biking!

The City of Fulton will be lighting the 5th Annual Wish Tree November 30, 2018,
at 5:30pm. Last year, the tree was visited by nearly 2,500 people, and we hope
to double that number this year by continuing the “Fulton Festival of Lights” in
conjunction with the Wish Tree lighting. We are giving the community an
opportunity to be involved in the lighting festival by donating LED lights, a
lighted feature, or making a monetary donation. This will be a great way to get
your business/organization some exposure while brightening the holidays and
the community.

Below are details of our donation levels as well as some picture examples of
lighted features that can be purchased. Our goal is to have a lighted display
throughout Veteran’s Park. We look forward to creating a community tradition
for all of Fulton to enjoy!

$5,000+ Gold Sponsorship will provide individual/company with signage at


lighting location, advertisement in Fulton Parks and Recreation Program
Guide, and two activity sponsorships of their choosing.

$1,000+ Silver Sponsorship will provide individual/company with signage at


lighting location and advertisement in Fulton Parks and Recreation Program
Guide.

$500+ Bronze Sponsorship will provide individual/company with signage at


lighting location.
