Message from the Dean, School of Law
Law, whether as a discipline or a profession, is in a state of flux.
While there are those who see only uncertainty underlying this
change, we here at SMU School of Law see opportunities. Whether
the focus is on the rendering advice on cross-border deals or
disputes, understanding the principles and norms that animate
commercial relationships or on improving the delivery and quality of
justice, our faculty members provide thought leadership. This is why
we have curated three specialised tracks within our Master of Laws
programme aimed at nurturing intellectual curiosity and creativity,
while at the same time meeting the demands and standards set at
leading law firms as well as in the region’s judicial institutions.

Dean, School of Law

the Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia (CEBCLA), the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia
(ARCIALA), and the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA). In 2017, it acquired its own premises along Armenian
Street and now boasts various state-of-the-art facilities such as the Kwa Geok Choo Law Library and the David Marshall Moot Court.

Attending the SMU Dual LL.M. was an incredible experience, the effects of
which I still acknowledge today. It has allowed me to have a different approach to
my business career as well as my personal life. The opportunity to study, and live, in
two different realities, with different methodologies of teaching, and fundamentally
different cultures, has afforded me a new perspective; one which, in a world
increasingly subject to the consequences of globalisation, the lawyer and the Giovanni Perani (Italy)
