to be received into the society of their divine Master and the heavenly
angels, they had, to a great extent, withdrawn from the society of
those who did not receive the message. With intense desire they had
prayed: 'Come, Lord Jesus, and come quickly.' But He had not
come. And now to take up again the heavy burden of life's cares

Jesus rode triumphantly into Jerusalem, His followers believed that
He was a,bout to ascend the throne of D:lvid and deliver Israel from
her oppressors . , . The disciples were accomplishing the purpose
of God; yet they were doomed to a bitter clisappointment. But a
few days had pl1ssed ere they witnessed the 8l1viour's Ilgonizing
rlr.ath, and laid Rim in the tomb. Their expectations had not been
rel1lized in 11 single particular, and their hopes died with Jesus. Not
1 ill their Lord had come forth triumphant from the grave could they
perceive thl1t all had been foretold by prophecy, and 'that Christ must
needs ha ve suffered, and risen again from the dead.' Acts 17: 3. "

"In Ii I;e manner Miller :md his assoeia.tes fulfilled prophecy and
gave a message which Inspiration had foretolel should be given to the
world, but which they could not have given had they fully understood
the proph('cies pointing out their clisappointment, and presenting an-
other Jl1e~sage to he pre:1ched to all nations before the Lord should
c:ome. The first and second angel's messages were given at the right
time and acer, mplished the work which God clesiglled to accomplish
by them." -Ihid., p. 405.

Lesson NO.5 Sabbltth, November 1, 111611.
NO'l'1';: "This time, which the angel declares with a solemn oath, is
not the end of this world's history, neither of probationary time, but
of prophetic time, which should pl'ecede the ,.dvent of our Lo·rd. That
is, the people will not h.ave another message upon definite time. After
this period of time, reaching from 1842 to 1844, there can be no definite
tracing of the prophetic time. The longest reckoning reaches to the
autumn of 1844.' '-7BC 971.

fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand,' basei! on the prophecy
of Daniel 9, while they failed to perceive that the death of th" Meniah
was foretold in the same scripture, so Miller a.nd his associates preaehed
the message based on Daniel 8:14 and Revelation 14:7, and failed to see
that there were still other messages brought to view in Revelation 14,
which were also to be given before the advent of the Lord . . . "

eighteen hundred years found access to God, w·as closed, another door

l<Jvery individual must realize his own necessity. The heart must be
'Cmptied of every defilement, and cleansed for the indwelling of the
