16. YOUR NOTES Page 20

Congratulations!
You are now the proud owner of an ALLTEC™ Evolution carpet and upholstery cleaning
machine, and you have every reason to be proud – for all the ALLTEC™ models embody good
design, reliability and a mechanical specification second to none.

Your ALLTEC™ Evolution machine is 100% British made – in fact we manufactured it in our
purpose-built workshops at Butts Farm, Fowlmere. We are proud that your machine is not
mass-produced, but is hand built in an organised and efficient environment. We are also proud
of the dedicated team of professionals who build them.

We aim to make the very best machines possible – and we do this by using only finest quality
components, and by employing the safest and most sound methods of construction. Unlike
most of our competitors that sell cheaper foreign machines with their ‘own label’ on them or the
UK manufacturers, who restrict access to their production line - we positively encourage you
to come and inspect out workshops - and that’s any day, any time.

Our concern for ‘getting it right’ is backed up by the Certificate of Quality Assurance that follows
every machine through every stage of its manufacturing, this is quite an elaborate and detailed
procedure. Once we have finished the manufacturing stage of the machine it is then put
through a series of tests to ensure all systems are fully operational, they are then double-
checked by another service engineer to ensure that they are fault-free when they leave our
workshops. Only then, when the machines are fully double-checked, cleaned and polished are
they allowed into our showroom.

The final check is made by YOU. When you collected your Alltec Evolution we offered free basic
training so YOU could check over and run every part yourself. By doing this we check once
again that the machine you have just bought is in perfect working order. If you had the machine
sent by carrier please double check all working parts before you go out cleaning with it to
familiarise your self with its operations.

We felt it important to include this page in the manual so you would be aware of the importance,
we as a company attach to craftsmanship, quality control, and above all to ensuring customer
satisfaction with the finished product.

We’re sure you’ll be delighted with your new ALLTEC™ Evolution machine as so many of our
customers already are.

Please read the following manual carefully, so that

you get the very best out of using your new machine

ALLTEC™ Evolution
2
GUARANTEE
We guarantee our ALLTEC™ Evolution machine for a period of one
year or 500 hours, which ever is sooner, from the recorded date of purchase.
During that time we undertake to exchange or repair free of charge any part found
to be defective, provided that:-

The machine has been used in accordance with the instruction manual

The machine has not been subject to miss-use, frost damage, neglect or accident

No chemicals, other than those supplied for use in hot water extraction machines
have been used. Use of other agents could cause damage to the machine and will
invalidate the guarantee.

NB: Labour is not included unless the machine (or failed part) is returned carriage and
insurance paid both ways to our Service Department at Butts Farm. Prior
telephone notice is required of the customer’s intention to return parts/machines
and a note detailing the problem should be enclosed.

Excluded from the guarantee are consumables such as brushes, filter, seals,
washer and hoses.

Parts replaced under guarantee are themselves guaranteed only for the remaining
unexpired portion of warranty and not for a new term.

Water pumps and vacuum motors supplied after the initial one-year warranty
period are subject only to a three-month term of warranty.

How Our Warranty System Works

Our warranty system is simple and fair. It enables 99% of repairs to be speedily
carried out by the operator, and it works like this.

1. In the event of a malfunction, contact our Service Manager on (01763) 208222

and advise him of the symptoms and nature of the problem

2. Having diagnosed the problem, the Service Manager will respond by booking
your machine in for repair here or by sending you the necessary replacement
parts for you to fit yourself (the parts will be charged to your account). All parts
are easily replaced using the most basic of tools, so within 24 hours you should
be back in business.

3. Once your machine is working we ask you to return faulty parts to us, but do
please insure for appropriate amount before posting, as it is your responsibility
to ensure their safe return. On receiving the faulty parts a credit will go on your
account.

ALLTEC™ Evolution
7
Do’s and Don’t’s
Do check frequently to make sure your machine is fully earthed; that the mains plug
contains a fuse of the correct rating (amp 13), and that the plug is connected at all
times to a 13 amp fused supply.

Do regularly examine the supply cord for damage, such as cracking or ageing. If
damage is found, replace the cord before further use.

Do only replace the supply cord with the type specified in the instruction manual.

Do keep the machine well ventilated. Do not position close up against a wall or in a
closed hall way

Do remember to add Anti-Foam to the waste tank (if required) when it is emptied.

Do keep the two vacuum filters (in the waste tank) free of fluff and debris, otherwise it
could cut off the airflow prematurely.

Do regularly clean the waste tank water level limiting device in accordance with the
instructions and examine it for signs of damage.

Do lubricate hose connectors regularly with silicone lubricant.

Do remember to switch off the heater before emptying the solution tank

Don’t use a hose connected to a tap to fill the machine solution tank – it’s all too
easy to get distracted and allow the tank to overfill – with potentially disastrous
results!

Don’t make do with one bucket for both filling and emptying the machine. Use one
bucket for the clean water and a separate one for the waste. That way you will avoid
getting dirt and grit in the solution tank and ultimately the water pump. Grit and water
pumps don’t mix.

Don’t use cleaning agents other than those supplied for use with the machine. Use
of other agents could cause damage to the machine – and may also harm the
materials being worked on.

Don’t allow the temperature of the water in the solution tank to exceed 70ºC (50ºC
when using Ultimate Master)

Don’t try to carry your machine up or down stairs if on your own or part full of water

Don’t leave your machine or any solution holding equipment out at night in your van
when it could be exposed to freezing conditions.

Don’t continue to use the machine in the event of a malfunction. Switch off at the
mains, withdraw the plug from the mains outlet and investigate the fault more fully. If
in doubt call our service workshop on 01763 208222 or in the event of an electrical
problem – call a qualified electrician.
Don’t allow the rotating brushes to come into contact with the supply cord ie when
using a Rotovac or other rotary cleaning equipment.

PREPARATION AND OPERATION

The following instructions are simply laid out and are designed to help you set
up and use your machine correctly. However, if you haven’t already done so,
may we suggest you invest in a professional training course, this will teach
you the correct technique for using your machine to safely clean a wide
variety of upholstery fabrics and floor coverings.

Preparation First place a ‘machine drip sheet’ or tarpaulin (folded several

times) under the machine, and any chemicals, tools and
buckets brought into the room with you. This stops drips and
splashes marking the carpet. Take care though not to block
any of the vents on the machine

Heating The Pour warm water carefully into the (solution) tank (minimum
Water 14Ltrs), ensuring as you do so the water does not splash over
the side of the machine. The water temperature should be
between 40ºC – 60ºC for normal cleaning.

If using In-Tank Plug the heater cable (black plug) into the mains supply
Heater Only: and turn on the black switch. Then set the thermostat dial to
40ºC – 60ºC. A faint hissing noise will indicate that the water is
heating up, the thermostat light will illuminate to show the
heater is functioning properly.

Add more water, as required, to the solution tank. Then add

the detergent concentrate, ULTIMATE MASTER at the rate of
100g (using a scoop or provided dispenser ) per 60 Litres
(14.7 gallons) of water. The solution tank lid should now be
placed in position to prevent unnecessary heat loss.

When the water is up to temperature the light will go out, the

heater may now be switched off.

If using In-Line Prime pump (see ‘Operating Machine’) and turn In-Line Heater
Heater Only: switches to the ‘On’ position prior to commencing cleaning.
Turn switches to the ‘Off’ position when not cleaning to prevent
overheating.

If filling tank Use In-tank heating as above to moderately heat water, up to a max
with cold water: of 40oC, then switch to In-Line Heater to commence cleaning operation.

ALLTEC™ Evolution
11
Operating The First check that the waste tank drain valve (waste tap) is
Machine: closed fully. If using a DE-GREASER or known FOAMING
product add one pint of water and 25ml – 50ml of Anti-Foam to
the waste tank and close the hinged lid.

Now plug in the vacuum / pump cable (white plug) and the
cooling fan will now start. Connect the solution hose to the
brass coupling at the top of the machine and the 50mm
vacuum hose to the black vacuum inlet at the top of the
machine.

On machines with a 600 psi pump you will need to

connect your bleed hose first to the brass coupling and turn on
the pump while pointing the hose in to the solution tank until all
air has been removed from the system. Once you have a
steady flow of today’s fresh warm water then turn the pump off,
this should be done every time you start work.

Now connect to either the floor wand or the upholstery tool –

whichever is to be used first. Switch on the vacuum motors
and then the water pump, set your pressure and check that the
gauge indications are normal and start cleaning.

Emptying As the cleaning process continues the solution tank will empty
The Machine: and the waste tank fills. Please try and empty the waste tank
before the electric cut out comes into operation as this is only
as safety measure to prevent water being drawn into the
vacuum motors. The reason for this precaution is that nothing
damages vacuum motors more or shortens their working life
more than foam or water being drawn into them.

N.B. TURN ALL MOTORS OFF BEFORE EMPTYING WASTE TANK

The waste tank must now be emptied. This is done by placing

a bucket under the waste tank drain valve on the front of the
machine and slowly at first, pulling up the handle to release the
water.

ALLTEC™ Evolution
12
ALWAYS HOLD VALVE, READY TO SHUT IT OFF WHEN BUCKET IS FULL!

Repeat until the tank is completely emptied, close the drain

valve by pushing down on the handle, add Anti-Foam if
required to the waste tank and then close the hinged waste
tank lid.
By now, the solution tank will need filling with more hot water
and pro-rata amount of ULTIMATE MASTER. The cleaning
operation can then be resumed

Upon Use When the carpet and upholstery cleaning is completed, all
Completion: that is left to do is empty, clean and pack your machine away.

Firstly empty the waste tank as before and then open the
waste tank lid. You will find that dirt and fibres are stuck to the
walls and sand to the base of the tank, which must be cleaned
off. It is almost certain that some water will remain in the
solution tank but check that there is at least 25-50mm (1-2”) of
water above the water filter. Open the waste drain valve
(checking there’s an empty bucket under it) and with the hand
tool just inside the tank, pull the trigger and with the fan of
water wash any dirt and debris through the valve.

Once clean, turn off the water pump, close the lid and valve,
then you can remove the remaining water from the solution
tank by removing the tool from the vacuum hose and
immersing the hose in the water in the solution tank and
switching on the vacuum motors. Once the tank is emptied, the
vacuum motors are switched off and the waste tank drained in
the normal way.

Once both tanks are emptied, thoroughly clean and wipe down
the outside of the machine, and pack the equipment away.
