Procedure
This is a general Windows error message that usually means a Hard drive read/write conflict occurred. Pressing
the ‘Input’ button usually clears the error message. Below is a list of some know causes:
• L99 (M640M) or P94 (M640T) parameter set incorrectly. HD interval write timer parameter should be set
to ‘60’ not ‘0’
• Bad HD or interface connections. Try reseating HD cable/HR122/HR123/ PC card. Make sure
connections are tight and clean
• Disk drive power management properties set wrong. Go to ‘Start’-‘Settings’-‘Control panel’ and select
‘Power’. Select ‘Disk drives’ tab and make sure setting is 10 minutes.
• Machine is connected to network and being accessed while HD write is taking place. Try to disable the
network and monitor for future alarm.
• Machine has Mazak Palletech management system installed. Check general parameter #2 (HD write
timer) for correct setting of ‘60’. Go to ‘Custom Display’ to access PMC s/w and change parameter if
necessary. If all settings are correct there is a HD modification kit (D56063) that will fix this problem.
See attached Appendix A for more details. This mod kit should only apply to Pallatech machines where
PMC s/w is writing to HD more often and machine resonant frequency is affecting HD write process.
• Old HD needs replacement. Check HD version: Go to ‘My Computer’ right click and select ‘Properties’
Check for ‘NC system Division 99A or B’. If says only ‘NC system Division’, HD needs firmware
update, replace HD.
• Customer has installed other software(s) that is causing this phenomenon. Try uninstalling s/w and
monitor for future alarms.
• Vibration has always been suspect of causing this alarm. Physically check by placing hand on top of NC
control panel. To prove, try and isolate HD from mounting and monitor for future alarm.
