I, Introduction
1. HUST is one of Vietnam's leading university in science and technology
2. HUST was Founded in 1956 as the first science and technology university of
Vietnam
3. The total area of the campus is 26ha with a system of more than 400
classrooms and laboratories
4. Purpose: To train the future generations of engineers to serve the process of
restoration and development of the North, making a stable rear for the South (at
that time the North was liberated but the South was still suffering US invasion).
5. About the organizational structure, Hust consists 17 schools in which 14 focus
on engineering education and 3 other schools are supporting filed to
engineering such as: foreign languages, Economics and Business
Administration, Engineering Pedagogy with about 2000 staff and
approximately 40,000 students
6. HUST cooperates in training and scientific research with more than 400
universities and research institutes, domestic and foreign companies from 35
countries all over the world
7. Hust is member of 7 Organizations and International University Network
8. Parabol Gate is considered the symbol of HUST

II, C1 building
1. It was built in 1960, meaning four years after the founding of the University
2. C1 Building Designed and supervised by the engineers of Soviet union
This is the operating center of the Hanoi University of Technology

III, The Monument

1. In the past, many volunteers joined the army because the country was not
liberated (from the above purpose).
2. The monument was built to commemorate the generations of HUST students
who participated in the Vietnam war.

IV, The Parabol Gate

1. Parabol Gate was built over 60 years ago.
 2. Height? Width? Parabol gate was designed to look like a soliton wave.
Designed by soviet architects. Parabol gate representing for the effort,
excepting the challenge of HUST student.
3. In the period of VietNam-American war, Parabol gate is main gate of HUST
and it is on Giai Phong street

V, Ta Quang Buu Library
0. Viet Duc Cooperation Center – where the next class and exchange, Center of
organic-polymer research-study chemistry, polymers
A. Overview
1. Name: the second president of HUST.
2. First: had 5000 books.
3. This builidng: was completed in 2006 - the 50th anniversary of HUST.
4. One of the largest libraries in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
5. Has 10 floors, floors 1 to 5: opening reading, floors 6 to 9: meeting rooms,
laboratories and the 10th floor is the hall.
6. Serving over 2,000 students at the same time, with more than 600,000 books and
electronic book databases.
7. Organise science seminar and exhibitions.
8. Symbol of BK, symbol of knowledge.

B. Traditional Room
1. The room is located on the 3rd floor here and has a collection of images and
artifacts of all bygone years.

VI, B1
This block is probably the best building in HUST in terms of both facilities and design.
Located outside of the main campus, this block is the gathering place of many
laboratories and cutting-edge technical facilities. Details:
1. 10 floors
2. Each floor has 5 to 9 rooms and lecture hall
3. The Great Steep Lecture Hall
4. The only block beside Ta Quang Buu Library to require student ID to enter
5. Numerous labs with thousand of equipments
6. A decent number of National level projects were conducted here
7. The main block of School of Information and Communication Technology (floor
5 to 10)
8. 3rd Floor is the Center of Research and Development in Biotechnology
9. International Research Institute MICA

Dormitory
1. The dorm is currently one of the most highly invested dorm with synchronously
and modernly. Commented [PHT1]: Thật không?
2. The dormitory consists of 10 blocks, of which there are 8 blocks of 4-5 floors, 2
one-storey houses with a total of 435 rooms accommodating 8-12 persons per
room, summing up to 4200 students at once.
3. service desk for students to exchange used textbooks to assist students in buying
books for their study.
4. The dormitory has 4 self-study rooms, each with an area of 100 m2 full of tables
and chairs that can sit 80-100 students and the conference room
5. As club has been built with an area of 400 m2 350 seats with a stage, sound
system which are relatively modern to serve cultural activities, arts. Here, there
are regular singing competitions such as The Voice of Dormitory, Karaoke
competition, presentations of professional skills, soft skills such as
communication behavior ... for free.
6. The dormitory loudspeaker system alarm students at 5:45 pm, open continuously
from 16h30 to 18h daily to timely inform the notation of the School, Youth
Union, Dormitory ..., daily news or songs to help students relax after stressful
study hours in the lecture hall.
7. The facilities for sports in the dormitory includes the football field B9 with the
system of single, double dip; volleyball court, basketball and playground B7; B5,
B13, B3, B10 which are used for ball and badminton for students to practice
sport after class.

Introduction of Parabol gate
With its unique design, Parabol Gate was built over 60 years ago. Almost the
building in HUST have a wave shaped or some details in wave shaped, such as roof of
C1 building, corridiors at C2, C3, C4. Especially, parabol gate was designed to look
like a soliton wave. As you might known, in mathematics and physics, a soliton wave
is a alone wave packet that maintains its shape while it propagates at a constant velocity.
By that meaning, Parabol gate represents for the effort, accepting the challenge of
HUST students.
In the period of VietNam-American war, Parabol gate is main gate of HUST
and it is on Giai Phong street, in English Giai Phong mean liberate. That represent for
ambition of all HUST students in war time.
In the 70s, Giai phong Street is kind of lonely so this gate became an impressive
point and attract people. Every one will tell about Parabol gate when they discuss or
remember about HUST.
However, Now Parabol gate became a backup gate, because student frequently
used the another gate in Tran Dai Nghia Street , Its more convenient for student who
lives in dorm.
Parabol gate open a small entrance for walker and just open all entrance in a special
event

Introduction to Ta Quang Buu library

Soon, I will introduce for you to a very famous place in Hust.
Can you guess where is that? Ok, let's go follow me.
On the way: In front of us is the Viet Duc Cooperation Center - where we will
have the next class and exchange. Beside, that is the center of organic-polymer research.
This is a plcae where the teachers and friends study chemistry, polymers ... Quickly,
you guys are coming!
Library: Yes, we have arrived. This is Ta Quang Buu library of HUST. Do you
know where the library name comes from? Yes, that's the president name of HUST.
Over the years, with an initial capital of 5,000 books, the library has grown. This
building in front of us is completed in 2006 - the 50th anniversary of HUST. And it has
become one of the largest libraries in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The Students of
HUST are allowed to study and borrow materials at the library all day of the week. The
library has 10 floors, of which from floors 1 to 5 for opening reading, floors 6 to 9 are
meeting rooms, laboratories and the 10th floor is the hall. The library is capable of
serving over 2,000 students at the same time, with more than 600,000 books and
electronic book databases. In particular, the library where is organized with scientific
seminars and exhibitions. So, not only is the symbol of BK, TQB library is also a symbol
of knowledge.

Introduction to HUST Traditional room

The room is located on the 3rd floor here and has a collection of images and artifacts of
all bygone years. Here is some pictures of HUST at the very first years when it just
finished construction. Then we go to visit portraits of our 3 first presidents of HUST.
Mr. Ta Quang Buu was the first president, but he decided to leave school and join army
as a responsibility of a Vietnamese citizen, then Mr. Tran Dai Nghia became the next

Introduction to the Dormitories

Dormitory facilities
Besides the student work such as study, scientific research, HUST is particularly
interested in student life in general including in-campus students. The dorm is currently
one of the most highly invested dorm with synchronously and modernly.
The dormitory consists of 10 blocks, of which there are 8 blocks of 4-5 floors, 2 one-
storey houses with a total of 435 rooms accommodating 8-12 persons per room,
summing up to 4200 students at once, among them are policy-oriented students and
disadvantaged students accommodated.
Over the past five years, with the approval of the School Board, Management Board
Dormitory has contracted with security forces and professional sanitation service
companies contribute to maintaining dormitory so that political security and social order
are always ensured as well as campus sanitation and room hygiene to create a safe and
healthy living environment for boarding students.
Student life at the dorm
In the dormitory there is a service desk for students to exchange used textbooks to assist
students in buying books for their study. The dormitory has 4 self-study rooms, each
with an area of 100 m2 full of tables and chairs that can sit 80-100 students. The
conference room also has an area of 100 m2 equipped with a projector that can hold 60-
80 people for the youth union, student union meeting and the academy to organize
seminars and introduce occupations for students.
In addition to the students' living conditions, study and research, the Dormitory
Management Board is greatly interested in the spiritual life of the students, as a club
has been built with an area of 400 m2 350 seats with a stage, sound system which are
relatively modern to serve cultural activities, arts. Here, there are regular singing
competitions such as The Voice of Dormitory, Karaoke competition, presentations of
professional skills, soft skills such as communication behavior ... for free. The
