WARM UP ACTIVITIES

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:

The students can identify and use vocabulary regarding to numbers.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
The student can learn to count from 1 to 6.
The Student can pronounce numbers from 1 to 6 correctly.
The Student can recognize numbers through matching and drawing.
 Activity 1
 Teacher introduce yourself and greet the children by saying hello as you wave
your hand
 Invite the children to repeat after the teacher and wave their hands, too
 Walk around saying hello to some children and invite them to answer back. Each
time you do this, wave your hand so that the children can relate the word to the
movement. Ask them to wave their hands when they answer.
 Repeat this activity with the word hi.

them in two teams and they sing the song taking turn.

 Activity 2

Warm up : Bounce into action !

 Teacher will draw six circles of different colors on the board. Count them and
write the correct number inside each circle as you mention it.
 Then count the circles again and ask the children to repeat after you as a group
and individually.
 Take out the hula-hoops or any object that teacher will show to the class and
count them as you put them on the floor, one after the other. Jump inside each
hoops or next to the object that teacher puts on the floor. Teacher says the
numbers until you finish the line.
 Invite the child to do the same. Have the class count chorally. Repeat the activity
as possible with different children.

Introduce Numbers

Use flashcards to introduce numbers one through six from unit 1, lesson 5, page 10.
Flashcards should have both the numeral and the word for each number. This will
probably also include introducing some new vocabulary so choose words that will be
used often in your classroom and words where the plural form is made by simply
adding -s. Words like teacher, student, book, pencil, and desk would all be appropriate.
Use choral repetition for pronunciation practice and then drill using the flashcards.

Activity 3

Listening from the book, unit 1 lesson 5 page 10.

Students listen, point and count, Exercise 2, track 5. The teacher write the numbers on
the board students recognize the numbers from 1 to 6. After that students listen, point
and count.

Activity 4

Warm up to teach color unit 3 pag. 22

• Ask all children to form a circle around the classroom.

• Select one of them to stay in the middle of the circle.

• When you say “MOVE” they have to change the place.

• The student who does not get a chair has to say a color in English. (the color the
teacher shows).
Note: The teacher can adapt this activity according to students reality, conditions,
needs and context.

Teacher starts the class with one song:

- students identify numbers by saying them.

- THE WHOLE CLASS SING THE SONG.

Activity 6.
Warmup for unit 8 -lesson 1 pag.62

Blindfold Guess. Blindfold a student and give him/her an object to feel. The student
must guess what the object is by only feeling it. This works well with plastic fruit,
vegetables or other plastic toy foods as they are a little challenging to guess.

Note: The teacher takes fruits to the class like: banana, mango, orange, lemon or
pineapple .the teacher also can brings some pictures, flash cards or plastic objects
related to this activity.
