ii. Junior students: 15/11/18 during tutorial. until Tuesday 11 Dec 2018. The most likely venue for this year is Gopeng rainforest in Perak. This field trip
is compulsory to all senior biologists as it complements the requirements for Paper 5 and chapter 18

3. Semester Exam dates.


Exam schedule will be produced by the Exam office once available.
 Senior students (July 2017 and Jan 2018 intakes)

 MQA exams : 27/11/18 in GH
All results will be discussed together with reports during Parents Day.

What you need to know???
1. CAIE AS and A Level Mathematics Syllabus 2020, 2021 and 2022 (9709)

Syllabus changes have been introduced including:


• Pure Mathematics 1: removal of linear inequalities and vectors, addition of transformation of functions,
equation of a circle and algebraic solutions

• Pure Mathematics 2 & 3: increased emphasis on sketching modulus function graphs introduced, vector
content from Pure Mathematics 1 moved to Paper 3 The DofE International Award is still open for juniors to join at Bronze or Silver level. Students can join
anytime up to next June, but the sooner the better. Just collect a form from Mr Boler and complete with a
• Mechanics: new section added on momentum, Mechanics 2 content entirely withdrawn and moved to
Further Mathematics parent/guardian's signature then return to Mr Boler.

• Changes to option routes through the qualification (including the removal of the Mechanics 2 option)

2. CAIE AS and A Level Further Mathematics 2020, 2021 and 2022 (9231)

From 2020 the option of a Cambridge Assessment International AS Level qualification is available as well as
the A Level qualification. The AS Level will allow a choice of applied mathematics: all students must study
Further Pure Mathematics 1 and choose one of either Further Probability & Statistics of Further Mechanics.

The assessment of the CAIE AS and A Level Maths from 2020 is based on options from 4 written papers that
are outlined below.

Paper 3: Further Mechanics
Paper 4: Further Probability and Statistics

The following combinations of units are possible:

AS Level:
Paper 1 and Paper 3 (Further Pure Mathematics 1 and Further Mechanics)
Or
Paper 1 and Paper 4 (Further Pure Mathematics 1 and Further Probability and Statistics)

A Level:
Paper 1: Further Pure Mathematics 1
Paper 2: Further Pure Mathematics 2
Paper 3: Further Mechanics
Paper 4: Further Probability and Statistics
