Ethical Issues

Within this unit, any issues relating to the American Hotel Academy ethical code of practice will be
addressed by tutors. If a student has ethical concerns regarding teaching and learning, it is their

Learning Outcomes

1. Critically evaluate the global options available to organizations for expansion and market
dominance

2. Assess the global strategic incentives that spur firms to engage in vertical integration, to diversify
their portfolio or to merge with another firm

3. Assess situations when particular global strategies are most effective

4. Critically evaluate the motivations and concepts behind the trend towards globalisation

Instruction to students:
There will be one individual study project (coursework) that should be handed in paper format by
each student by the deadline, 11.01.2016. You are given the task of critically evaluating
globalization strategies and innovation concepts behind such strategies, applied in the field of
hospitality. The individual study project (coursework) must be of maximum 2500 words with
references cited in the paper. Harvard Referencing System will be used for referencing.
The correct submission will provide traceable data regarding the market, will assess the impact of
these data on the business and will analyse the possible opportunities on the market.
Assessment Objective/Rationale:
The correct submission will provide traceable data regarding the market, will assess the impact of
these data on the business and will analyse the possible opportunities on the market. It is

expected to provide hard and soft data, model the impact of these data on the business and
provide insights on how a business can better address its environment issues.
Assessment Task:
Write a study project critically evaluating globalization strategies and innovation concepts behind
such strategies, applied in the field of hospitality. The project should not exceed 2,500 words, it
will be paper based and it should display the Harvard referencing system.
Assessment Criteria:
The criteria used for the assessment will be:
- demonstrating adequate understanding and knowledge of the topic covered in the question; 30

- ability to synthesize and analyze a topic from the course content; 35 %
