Lauren Buchanan/Beth Wilms Sub Plans Tuesday, October 16th

Hello! Thanks for taking our classes today; we are at a district English conference. I’m Lauren Buchanan, Ms. Wilms’
student teacher.

Seating charts are in the blue binder.

Students must use a planner pass if they want to leave class.

Today is a GOLD day. Our schedule:

GOLD day
7:35-8:54 Period 1 English 8: This class is small, but very rowdy. We space
them throughout the room, so they avoid getting
distracted by each other. Students will be working
completely on their own today. Please first give the
reading quiz to them. This is over the last few chapters of
The Outsiders. They may use their notes for the quiz.
After the students finish their quiz, please instruct them
to take the Flocabulary assignment on Google Classroom.
They should know how to get there. After the students
have completed both tasks, inform them that they should
complete their study guides and read chapters 8 and 9 for
Thursday.
8:59-10:21 Period 2/3 English 8: This class needs a lot of support. Erin Halter, the
Integrated Services Teacher, will also be present in this
class. She is there to support those students who need it.
She knows the class well, and will redirect other students
if necessary. WE ALSO BRIBED THE STUDENTS TO BE
GOOD WITH DOUGHNUTS, SO YOU CAN THREATEN A BAD
SUB REPORT, IF NECESSARY. Students will be working
completely on their own today. Please first give the
reading quiz to them. This is over the last few chapters of
The Outsiders. They may use their notes for the quiz.
After the students finish their quiz, please instruct them
to take the Flocabulary assignment on Google Classroom.

10:25-11:47 Period 4 English 8: This is the best class we have; they should be
good for you! Students will be working completely on
their own today. Please first give the reading quiz to

finish their quiz, please instruct them to take the
Flocabulary assignment on Google Classroom. They
should know how to get there. After the students have
completed both tasks, inform them that they should
complete their study guides and read chapters 8 and 9 for

11:47-12:17 Lunch
12:17-1:41 Period 5 Plan
1:45-2:25 Period 6 ELO: Movie

Today all English 8 classes will be working SILENTLY on their laptops. ALL assignments should be posted on
Google Classroom. The students will NOT need their notebooks.

1. Students may use their notes as they take the quiz over The Outsiders (they may use their character
glossary in the front cover of their book, but not their book, so please instruct them to take their
glossary out before the quiz.)
2. As the students finish, they will do the Flocabulary assignment over theme.
a. Make sure the students know that they need to complete the video, the Read and Response,
and the quiz.
3. Once the students have completed the quiz, they should read (or listen to the audiobook) chapters 8
and 9 and fill out their thematic study guides.
