Research Projects
2005 – 2009 Research Assistant, Literacy Achievement Research Center. Supported
by Dr. Rand Spiro. Investigating the underlying technological and cognitive
affordances of advanced and extended use of the Web for learning in complex
domains. Work included literature review, participation as a subject, data
collection, data analysis, author on two book chapters, and author on two papers.
2005 – 2007 Research Assistant, National Center for Case Study Teaching in
Science. Supported by Dr. Mary Lundeberg. This National Science Foundation
(NSF) funded project involved the dissemination of case study teaching in science
at a national level through workshops, conferences, and online support groups.
My work included research, writing, and data analysis for published papers,
AERA presentations, NSF applications and reports, and an online literature
review resource for faculty using PBL and cases in science. Most recent work
involved analysis of clicker use in large undergraduate classrooms in association
with case-based teaching.
2005 – 2006 Research Assistant, Michigan State University. Supported by Dr. Matthew
Koehler, through PT3 grant from U.S. Department of Education. I analyzed and
edited video interviews of the Michigan Association for Computer Users in
Learning (MACUL) Technology for Authentic Problem Solving (TAPS) winners
from 2004 through 2006. The final products were intended to provide online
case-based resources for pre-service and in-service teachers to facilitate their
technology integration training.
