RULES & REGULATIONS

The following School Rules have been drawn up to safeguard
the common interest of all students at Sri Ara Schools. The
discipline policy is based on the principle that actions will
have consequences. This is an important part of learning to
become a responsible individual in a global environment that
is becoming increasingly competitive.
Whilst the school will endeavor to be proactive and
positive in the approach to disciplinary issues we recognise that
circumstances may arise where students may need to be
disciplined.
Within the school effective discipline comes from clearly
stated requirements that are consistently enforced. In this
regard, freedom and accountability work together.

1. General Policy

1.1 The rules and regulations herein stipulated shall be

enforceable by the school at its discretion.
1.2 The school reserves the right to amend its Rules and
Regulations from time to time without prior notice to
parents.
1.3 This publication is produced by Sri Ara Schools for
the use of Sri Ara Schools. The particulars contained
herein are intended solely as a guide to students,
staff and parents and are furnished on the strict

understanding that Sri Ara Schools shall not be liable
for any claims with respect to its content.

2. Code of Conduct

Proper conduct reflects directly upon the student and

his/her upbringing. A student’s character may be seen
from the way the student carries him/herself and the
respect accorded to peers and adults.

2.1 At Sri Ara Schools, emphasis is placed on the

individual's responsibility to the community, be it the
closed community of the school or the wider
community of the country. All school regulations are
based on this philosophy.
2.2 All Sri Ara Schools’ students are expected to:
 respect the well-being of others' physical safety,
feelings and property;
 attend all scheduled classes punctually with the
necessary books and equipment;
 wear the school uniform in school, in transit, and
on school excursions unless otherwise stipulated
by the administration;
 remain on campus during school hours unless
granted permission to leave by the Principal;
 complete all assigned work punctually and in full.
2.3 An important part of education at Sri Ara Schools is
the development of positive attitudes towards
people, the environment and towards learning. At
Sri Ara Schools we believe that it is essential to
address these issues consciously, professionally and
explicitly within our school environment.

3. Sri Ara Award Scheme

The Sri Ara Award Scheme is designed to award all

students for good conduct and encourage positive
qualities whilst discouraging poor behaviour and attitude
to safeguard the common interest of all students. Once
enrolled, students are designated to different ‘Houses’
which are recognized by different names and colours.
Every year, a maximum number of points will be allocated
to each student and House. During the year points will be
awarded for positive behavior and attitude whilst fines in
the form of points deducted will be issued to students who
do not adhere to the rules and regulations of the school or
have a negative attitude. In many cases the deterrence
is in the form of fines however, the motivation for
responsible conduct should not lie solely in the threat of
punishment but should stem instead from a general
consideration for others and we seek the support of all
parents in instilling and strengthening these values in all
our students.

Fine system: Students who are fined are issued fine slips,
which indicate the type of offence and fine due. For
every five fines issued, a demerit point will be
deducted from the house points.

Merit points: Students with no fines or have shown

exemplary conduct over the year shall be awarded a
certificate / token.
