To be able to retrieve all management you have to build a Management

Data Communication Network, or Management DCN. The DCN is IP
based and there is an embedded IP router in each node that sends the
data in the right direction.
There are several alternatives to build this DCN. The most common is
to use the radio link’s overhead channels which doesn’t affect the
traffic capacity or use a dedicated VLAN in a packet switched network
as a part of the payload. In rare cases there is also a possibility to use
dedicated 64kbit/s slots in the circuit switched traffic.
You can always access the Elements locally on the Site LAN port or on
the local management port.

A common router is a router that uses numbered IP addressing with all its ports
belonging to different LAN.
In the un-numbered case, you give one port an IP address (the LAN port for
management) and the other ports will then inherit that IP address. So, seen
from outside, the router will only have one IP address. This will simplify
planning of IP addresses and reduce the number of IP networks.

The router in MINI-LINK TN/LH uses by default unnumbered IP addressing

but all iterfaces can be made as numbered interfaces if required as when you
want to make the router an Area Border Router in OSPF.

MINI-LINK TN/LH uses a symmetric connection over the PPP link and no
specific settings needs to be done if you are using unnumbered IP addressing.

There is also a possibility to send your DCN inbound with the Ethernet traffic.
This is only applicable if you have a switch in the node and then you dedicate
one port of the switch to a specific DCN VLAN.

The router has two fixed ports (USB and Ethernet LAN) and then sets up PPP
connections on all other interfaces.
The DDCr/DCCm bytes refers to the Overhead in the STM-1/STS-3.
External media is by using the SAU3.
When the IP address is stated as 0.0.0.0 at the PPP interfaces, it inherits the IP
address of the Management port.
By default the router is using unnumbered IP addressing and then you can
choose if you want to make one or several PPP connections numbered.

It depends on Traffic Capacity and modulation what speed you have across a
hop with PDH modems:
Capacity (E1’s): Modulation: Speed:
Any C-QPSK = 128 kbit/s
1-13 QAM = 128 kbit/s
14-27 QAM = 256 kbit/s
28-41 QAM = 384 kbit/s
42-55 QAM = 512 kbit/s
56-69 QAM = 640 kbit/s
>=70 QAM = 768 kbit/s

The communication towards MINI-LINK E goes in the HCC (8 kbit/s) over the
radio hop unless there is a SAU IP/IPEX when the speed is 2x64 kbit/s.

Different functions of the Routers. A Router will become one or the other
depending on how they are configured.

All ports in an ABR has to be configured with numbered IP addresses

belonging to different networks. Then you place the different sub networks in
different areas.

It is good to have an Network Time Protocol (NTP) server in your network so

the alarms coming in to the OMC has correct time stamp.
The most important of these optional services to have is the FTP server to
transfer softwares. You can have an FTP server locally on your computer but it
is also adviceable to have one external, permanently connected to the nodes,
with the latest softwares.

Commands and Case-Sensitivity

Keywords in commands are non-case-sensitive. For example, the show
clock command is accepted if entered in any of the following ways:
show clock, SHOW CLOCK, or Show Clock. Arguments of strings are
case-sensitive. For example, cases of user name and password are
always preserved exactly as they are created.
Command Help
The operator can enter a question mark (?) at the system prompt to get
a list of commands available for the current context. The operator can
also obtain a list of valid keywords and arguments for the current
position in the command line by pressing question mark (?).
Partially Typed Commands
In all contexts, the system recognizes and accepts partially typed
commands and keywords, provided that the operator has entered
sufficient text to be unique. For example, instead of typing configure,
you can type conf and press <Enter> to enter configuration context.
Use the TAB key to complete a partially typed command.
