1. Identify a specific location where you could reintroduce your selected species into the wild.

Describe
the specific habitat in terms of the local plant life and climate. Be sure to reseach the availability of
other resources including access to food, water, shelter, etc.

● South Africa
○ South africa is surrounded with all kinds of plants and wildlife, like Lion, Cheetah,
Elephant, Honey Bees, Blue Crane, Crocodile, Angola river frog, Rainbow Trout, Black
ant, Duiwelsbrood, and Pincushion protea.
○ Local plants include:
■ Clivia
■ Dietes Grandiflora
■ Arum lily
■ Red hot poker
■ Pincushion protea

○ The climate is temperate, most areas in South africa have warm/sunny days and cool
nights.

2. Identify an organism that currently lives in that location who fits a similar niche to your selected
species. How do the fill similar roles? How do their roles differ.

● The cheetah lives there

● They fill similar roles because they are in the same family, and are very similar animals just
the AMerican cheetah is from america and has features that were once suited for america
○ For example, the AMerican cheetahs nose is more blunt than a cheetah in south Africa
○ They eat fairly similar things, so Me and brahmir think that the American cheetah
would fit fairly well in South Africa.
3. Competition: What organisms would your species compete with? What resources would be the focu
of the competition? (Think food, water, shelter, etc.)

● I think that the American Cheetah would compete with the cheetah mainly. They would be
targeting most of the same animals, looking for similar places to live, and require many of the
same things. If they don't compete they might possibly find a way to mate and survive
together rather than as separate species.
4. Identify at least 1 symbiotic relationship your selected organism may participate in. Describe how
the relationship fits the role of mutualism, commensalism, or parasitism.

● Assuming that the American Cheetah would eat some of the same things that a Cheetah
would, A Parasitic relationship would be a American cheetah and a gazelle. The American
Cheetah would gain food and energy from the gazelle, but the gazelle would not gain anything
from the American cheetah since it is being hunted and killed.
5. Identify how specific behaviors of the selected organism may influence other organisms (For
example: The feeding of specific herbivores could encourage the development of protective plant
adaptations such as larger thorns)

● The introduction of the American Cheetah may influence animals like the gazelle and antelope
to migrate to northern Africa where American Cheetahs are not present and they will have less
threats.
6. Develop a proposed food web using your selected species and the surrent plants and animals in
your selected location. (show 10 feeding relationships)
