Winchester, VA 22602 I am writing to express my desire to begin my nursing career as an Registered Nurse in
rwells16@su.edu the Emergency Department . I will be graduating in December of 2018, and taking the
(540) 335-5356 NCLEX in January of 2019. As a Shenandoah University student, I am currently
completing my final preceptorship at Winchester Medical Center in the Emergency
Department. I have seen firsthand the dedication, knowledge, and passion that nurses
and medical teams have for their patients, families, communities, and profession, and
look forward to contributing my skills to your team.

The rigorous SU second degree nursing curriculum, my final preceptorship in the ED,
as well as my previous experiences in the healthcare setting have prepared me for the
unpredictable and fast-paced environment of the Emergency Department. Through
both my clinical and outside experiences I have learned the importance of multi-tasking
and problem solving which will assist me in being able to make quick, informed
decisions and prioritizing patients’ needs. My preceptor, Brianne Casey, RN, BSN, and
the rest of the Winchester Medical Center emergency department staff were
instrumental in providing me with experience and exposure to high stress situations
where I learned to take in critical information in order to make quick, educated decisions
to improve patients’ conditions.

An organization that is innovative, dedicated to education, and committed to providing

high-quality care, is an organization that aligns with the vision I have for my career- to
help educate and provide outstanding care and compassion to my clients. I am confident
that my passion and experiences make me an ideal candidate for this position and the
responsibility that comes with it.

My qualifications for this position are shown in my experiences within health care and
outside. My set of leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills combined with
my passion for emergency nursing have prepared me to make a positive impact in the
Emergency Department. I would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to be part of the
