ABSTRACT

Passing the Licensure Examination for Teacher (LET) is the ultimate desire of every

Education graduates as it open many opportunities to them. Every examinee hopes to pass but

statistics showed in the recently released examination results that out of 80,509 aspiring

teachers for Bachelor Elementary Education, only 21, 198 (26.33%) passed and our of 107, 020

aspiring teachers for Bachelor of Secondary Education only 49,626 (46.37%) passed the board

(www.prc.board.com). As gleaned from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) data on

LET results, it had been observed for several years that consistently not a half of the takers in

each scheduled examination usually passed the LET. The study sought to find if the students’

performance in the mock board examination given in a school could be a predictor on the

students’ performance in the LET. Using the Pearson R formula, the scores of students in the

mock board and in the LET were correlated. The results revealed a strong correlation. The higher

the students’ performance in the mock board, the higher are the student’s scores in the LET as

well. Likewise, the lower the students’ performance in the mock board, the lesser are the

student’s scores in the LET. The Mock board examinations significantly predicts the students’

success in the LET. Given the results, the study recommended to institutionalize the initiated LET

Enhancement Program held every Sunday for all graduating students in the College of Teacher

Education department to ensure students’ success in the examination.
