Aims:

 To introduce vocabulary: talent, hard work, ambition, determination, commitment, singer,


composer, actor, guitar player
 To make students scan the text for certain information
 To make students skim the text for certain information
 To make students write their own question regarding the text.

 Reading clearly
 Correcting sentences

Assumed knowledge; Students are familiar with:

 Names from the text (Elvis Presley, Priscilla Presley, Michael Jackson)
 Musical genres (country, blues, rock and roll)

Anticipated problems; If there are any (e.g. unknown words, difficulty in understanding, etc.),
teacher will clarify them.
Materials: Student’s book, worksheet, board

LESSON STAGES
ACTIVITY 1: WARM UP

 AIM: to get students ready for the English class by having an informal conversation
(greetings, teacher’s presentation, How are you?)
 TIMING: 2 minutes
 TYPE OF INTERACTION: T – S, S – T
 PROCEDURE: Teacher greets Students, presents herself and asks them how they are.
Pupils respond to informal question.
ACTIVITY 2: HOMEWORK CHECK-UP

 AIM: to check whether the students have accomplished their task.


 TIMING: 5 minutes
 TYPE OF INTERACTION: T – S, S – T7
 PROCEDURE: Teacher asks ‘Have you done your homework?’, ‘Was it difficult?’, ‘Who
wants to read?’ and then names a few students to read their homework and asks the
others to check and correct if necessary. Students respond individually. Teacher involves
all the class. Homework is checked.

ACTIVITY 3: TRANSITION TO THE NEW LESSON

 AIM: to make connection between what students know about music and music idols.
 TIMING: 5 minutes
 TYPE OF INTERACTION: T – S, S – T
 PROCEDURE: Teacher asks ‘Do you like music?’, ‘What kind of music do you listen
to?’, ‘Who is your favourite singer or band?’.

ACTIVITY 4: PRESENTATION (NEW LESSON PROPER)

 AIM: to make students use the new vocabulary

 PROCEDURE: Teacher announces the new topic: Wishes and Riches
 STEP 1: LEAD-IN/ELICITATION

Teacher asks the students ‘How can someone become famous?’ then students produce the
new vocabulary.

 STEP 2: EXPLANATION

Teacher tells the students that these words will be understood from the text and asks them
to consider an answer to the question from exercise 1.

 STEP 3: ACCURATE REPRODUCTION

Students are asked to solve exercise 1 from the worksheet.

ACTIVITY 5: PRACTISING NEW LANGUAGE

 AIMS: to make students write the correct from of the sentences from exercise 1

have to complete the chart with information from the text, and to write five questions
regarding the text, which will be answered the following time by their colleagues.

Teacher says goodbye to the students and thanks them for their attention.
