Final Project

Target Students- 3rd grade students

Subject or Content Area- Math, more specifically simple multiplication

Instructional Objectives-
Content Objectives:
1. Students will be able to multiply any two whole numbers together.
2. Students will be able to answer questions regarding simple multiplication on a
basic, simple multiplication worksheet.
3. Students will be able to understand the process of solving simple
multiplication problems.
4. Students will be able to solve simple multiplication problems with a logical
process they have learned.
Language Objectives:
1. Students will be able to orally describe the multiplication processes.
2. Students will be able to show the extensive knowledge of simple
multiplication through a presentation.
3. Students will be able to give a presentation with the proper use of math
vocabulary, including words like: multiples, factors, identity, and product.

Teaching Procedure-

1. To prepare the students for the simple multiplication level before the teacher begins, she

will play a video on the screen about simple multiplication and what you can use it for

outside the classroom, this is a good way to prepare before the class because it will grab

the attention of the students.

2. After the video has been watched, the teacher will begin the lesson plan of teaching the

students the simple multiplication process.

3. She will describe how you solve certain problems and will also teach the students the

simple multiplication vocabulary so that they are able to use that in their presentation.
4. After the teacher has taught the new information to the students, to make them practice

what they just learned, she will hand out a simple multiplication worksheet that they will

use for their presentation.

5. As the students are filling out their worksheet for practice, the teacher will be monitoring

walking around the classroom to help.

6. Once the class is complete with their worksheet, as more practice and as seen as the

assessment activity, they will present what they have learned.

7. This would complete the lesson plan, it includes the preparation as the video to grab the

attention of students, then the teacher presents new information, and lastly the worksheet

would be used as practice.

Assessment Activity-

1. The assessment activity I would use for this lesson plan is an oral assessment.

2. For this oral assessment activity, as I mentioned above, the teacher would hand out a

simple multiplication worksheet to her students.

3. The students would be given a certain amount of time to fill this out and work through it.

4. As the students are working on this worksheet, the teacher would be walking around the

classroom giving assistance to students that may be struggling.

5. Once the time is up for them to fill out their worksheet, the teacher would go in

alphabetical order to have each student go to the front of the classroom.

6. As the teacher, I would be sitting in the audience with my analytic rubric as they present.

7. For this activity the students would be asked to stand in front of their peers and present

their process in which they filled out the math problems on the worksheet.
8. They would use math vocabulary they previously learned during the lesson plan, to

describe how they got the answers they did and why they think their logic may be correct.

9. This assessment activity is related to the lesson plan not only are they learning how to do

simple multiplication, they are learning how to give a presentation in front of the

classroom on math.

Justification-

My instructional objectives fit this assessment activity because within the content

objective I stated that I wanted my students to be able to use understand simple multiplication,

and be able to fill out a worksheet and receive correct answers. This lesson plan and activity also

relates to the teachings of the book because I am using the strategy of Pre-, During-, and Post-

because students have a previous knowledge of multiplicaiton (pre), I am teaching them this

process during my lesson plan (during), and they are asked to correctly fill out a worksheet and

presentent using the knowledge they have (post). The book theoretical teaching ideas are that it is

helpful for students to go over things during multiple class sessions so that they are able to fully

understand the content being taught. The objectives fit my assessment because they must

understand the simple multiplication process to be able to give a presentation regarding how they

got their answers. It is also related because they are to receive correct answers before they give

their presentation. These content objectives will help them within this presentation because they

will of learned the simple muliptication and the goal is that they will feel prepared and well

knowledged to give a presenation. The anaylitc rubric I created relates to my assessment activity

because it is a rubric that is used solely for oral presentations. It includes content, grammar,

speaking fluency and delievery; which are all key aspects to giving a proper and thorough

presentation. These four asepcts of the rubric are keys ideas that will help my students when

learning how to give a thorough and well done presentation. This rubric that I created connects to

my assessment activity as well because it is on a scale rating of one that you would use for

primary school students. It is not too challenging for my target age of 3rd grade, but it is

challenging enough that the grade they receive they must work for. All the pecies of my lesson
plan connect through the common thread of teaching my students a lesson plan and assessing

them in ways that will only benefit them in the future. This lesson plan will prepare them for

their asessment and the assessment will help them increase their skills of presenting and

speaking.
