Revision History
AT&T Navigator v2.0 utilizes the integration of GPS position determination technology, the Java™ programming
environment, and access to your wireless carrier’s data network. Supported Research in Motion BlackBerry devices
provide both the Java environment and access to the wireless network. The AT&T Navigator application provides:
GPS navigation that punctually guides you turn-by-turn to any destination address in the United
States. If you miss a turn or get off-track, AT&T Navigator will calculate a new route for you.
Navigation features such as Lane Assist to help you determine which lane(s) to be in at a multi-lane
highway junction or an intersection. View traffic camera locations on your navigation map, as well as
the legal speed limit.
Audio and visual traffic alerts while driving or viewing maps, as well as traffic rerouting capabilities to
minimize delays on your trip.
Enter one or more destination addresses by keying or speaking directly into the device, entering them
on the AT&T Navigator website, or by pulling your contacts from the BlackBerry Address Book.
Optionally, you can input a remote origin and receive Driving Directions from that origin address to the
selected destination address.
A Search (Directory) feature that allows you to find businesses or points of interest (POIs) near your
current location, around a favorite, around an entered address, or around an airport. You can call the
business first to check availability of an item or get a reservation and then navigate to it. You can also
save the address for use later in the day.
Points-of-Interest search result ads that offer merchant review, deals, and restaurant menus (depends
on availability).
Maps of the area around your current location, a marked favorite, or an address you enter manually or
have previously entered. You can pan the map (adjust left/right/up/down), and zoom in or out. Maps
and points-of-interest are frequently updated for accuracy, at no additional charge to you.
The ability to set up alerts for your daily commute and view any traffic incidents on the map of the
route.
The ability to set Daytime or Nighttime colors for your map or navigation screens. You can also set this
to “Auto” for automatic color adjustment throughout the day.
A Weather feature to view current weather conditions, as well as a 7-day forecast, for a location that
you choose.
The ability to personalize the application by selecting the use of U.S. customary or metric distance
units, the language for audible guidance, the volume and map colors, etc.
AT&T Navigator’s servers support these enhanced services via the carrier’s data network.
AT&T and TeleNav will not accept any responsibility whatsoever for accidents resulting from failure to observe
common sense precautions. Your personal judgment, traffic regulations, and common sense must always take
precedence over any driving direction produced by AT&T Navigator.
It is your responsibility as the vehicle operator to keep your eyes on the road and be an alert driver at all times,
ESPECIALLY when the vehicle is moving. The vehicle operator should not be distracted by the application displays
or audible cues, or by manually interacting with the controls. When you need to enter data on your device using the
keypad or study the display, please do so while the vehicle is parked, not while in motion. Should your ability to
drive responsibly be decreased, please turn off the device.
If you are using a device mounting kit, make sure that it does not obscure your vision. You may wish to charge the
device while using AT&T Navigator. If so, make sure the charging cable does not interfere with any of the vehicle
controls.
The vehicle operator’s personal judgment, traffic regulations, and common sense must always take precedence
over the instructions provided by AT&T Navigator.
It is your responsibility as the vehicle operator to drive safely, observe all traffic rules, and above all use your own
personal judgment while driving. If you feel that a route suggested by the navigation software instructs you to
perform an unsafe or illegal maneuver, places you in an unsafe situation, or routes you into an area which you
consider unsafe, do not follow the instructions.
The AT&T Navigator application that you install on your device requires a means of accessing the public Internet,
which is typically provided by your carrier’s data network.
The AT&T Navigator application communicates with the AT&T Navigator servers to get routing, maps, and points of
interest via your carrier’s data network. You do not need to purchase additional data services if you already have a
data or email services plan for your device. However, if you do not already have a data or email services plan, you
must order one from AT&T so you can use the AT&T Navigator application.

The TeleNav GPS Navigator application that resides within your BlackBerry requires a TeleNav subscription and
means of accessing the public Internet.
Software Installation
There are two ways to install TeleNav on your device over the wireless network 1 . The AT&T Navigator application
comes pre-loaded on your BlackBerry, but you can also use the Browser method for download.
NOTE: Once the application finishes installing, you will need to reboot your device.

Browser Method
TeleNav can be downloaded directly onto your BlackBerry using its Internet Browser.
Network Access
AT&T Navigator uses the public Internet to access its servers for mapping, routing, and search services from your
device. If you are not using your BlackBerry for e-mail services, you will still need to add an individual BlackBerry e-
mail plan to have access to data services. There are three different network settings for you to choose from. Wait
90 seconds after turning on your BlackBerry to allow these services options to register. These access methods are
automatically determined by AT&T Navigator when it launches, but you can change the settings from within the
AT&T Navigator Preferences menu.
When using GPS, make sure you are outside with a clear view of the sky, and no buildings or trees
are in the way.
Remain stationary to acquire the initial GPS signal before you start your journey.
The time to acquire the first GPS signal of the day may take up to 2-3 minutes, so please be patient.
Keeping your device powered on will help make getting subsequent GPS signals much faster during
that same day.
6. AT&T Maps
AT&T Maps is a free application that comes with AT&T Navigator. AT&T Maps
offers you static, turn-by-turn directions, a business finder, and the ability to
upgrade to the full AT&T Navigator application.
2. Your current location is displayed on a map. You can zoom in (+), zoom
out (-), or pan the map (slide your finger along the screen).
TeleNav Maps offers you static driving directions to your chosen location. Simply
choose “Menu >> Get Directions” when viewing a map. You can choose from a
line-by-line Route Summary or a Map Summary view.
When viewing a Route Summary, tap any line to view turn-by-turn directions.
3. Upon first launch, the AT&T Navigator application will request access
permissions. Be sure to go through the Permissions screens and make
any changes you see fit. AT&T recommends keeping the default values.
4. Press Menu and choose “Save” when you are done to save your settings.
4. The Terms of Service screen appears. If you agree to the terms and
conditions, choose Accept to continue.
5. The first time you use the application, you will be given the option to set up
the Side Key, which allows you to conveniently access the application with
a single click. If you would like to set up or change the side key later or
change your choice of left or right, go to Menu >> Settings >> Side Key
within the application.
6. During your first use of AT&T Navigator, the device will download the
audible and graphical content needed to build the displays and produce
audible messages.
NOTE: If the AT&T Navigator application indicates that it cannot reach the AT&T Navigator servers, the most likely
reason is that your carrier data service plan is not yet active. You may need to contact AT&T Customer Service at
1-800-331-0500 (or dial 611 from your handset) to extend your service agreement. You will not be able to progress
beyond this point until your account is returned to current status. You may also see an important message from
AT&T regarding upgrades, scheduled downtime, pending account expiration, etc.
When the device reaches the AT&T Navigator servers with a valid and active phone number and PIN, the device
will be registered to use AT&T Navigator and will not present any of the above screens except the splash and
Warning screens in the future. Visiting http://www.attnav.com and changing the PIN will require you to repeat the
above registration process.
This section gives you a brief overview of the AT&T Navigator menus.

Convenience Key.
1. Choose Drive To from the AT&T Navigator Main Menu. Then choose one of the Drive To menu options.
3. When viewing a map in the Maps & Traffic menu, press Menu >> Drive To.
2. Choose one of the following options from the Drive To menu as shown
in the illustration to the right and discussed below.
TIP: Coaching for each screen is available using the Menu >> Help
selection.
Resume Trip
This option appears if you have previously interrupted a navigation session.
Your destination and route settings are saved if you exit navigation while on a
route so that you may easily resume the trip later. The settings for a paused
trip will clear if you begin a new route.
My Favorites
Favorites are places that you have saved in the past so you can quickly access
them. Many AT&T Navigator users save their home and work addresses as a
Favorite so they can easily reuse the addresses later.
Your Favorites list can grow to an unlimited length. If your Favorites list gets
very large, it may be easier to use the Find function to find your desired
Favorite. To use the Find function, enter one or more alphanumeric characters
in the Find field. As you type, the closest match(es) will appear at the top of the
list.
Sync with Website – Pull in addresses that you saved in the AT&T Navigator website at
http://www.attnav.com.
Received Addresses – This folder contains addresses that other AT&T Navigator users may have
sent you. You can delete favorites from this category, but the category itself may not be deleted or
renamed. In the Received Addresses folder, highlight any address to see who sent the address to you.
The name and phone number of the person will be displayed.
NOTE: This category is not visible until the first time you receive a shared address.
Folder Icons – These are the Favorite categories that you have created. These folders contain the
Favorites that you have saved to those categories.
Heart Icons – These are the individual Favorites that you have saved.
NOTE: You can also use the DEL key on the BlackBerry keyboard.
2. Press Menu and choose Edit. The Edit Favorite screen appears.
4. On the Categories screen, tap a category folder in the list to add the
location to that folder. You may choose as many categories as you would
like.
5. Tap Done. You will be taken back to the Edit Favorite screen. Tap Save
to return to the My Favorites screen.
NOTE: You can also use the “Find” function to quickly locate categories if you
have a long list.
2. Press Menu and choose Edit. The Edit Favorite screen appears.
You can delete or rename a category that you have created in My Favorites (the default “Received Addresses”
category, which stores addresses other users may have shared with you, cannot be deleted or renamed).
2. Highlight the category that you want to rename or delete. Then press
Menu >> Rename or Menu >> Delete.
NOTE: You can also use the DEL key on the BlackBerry keyboard.
Category & Favorites – Delete the category and all favorites in it.
This deletes the favorites in this category only. If a favorite is also
saved under a different category, this action does not delete it
there.
Recent Places
Recent Places are addresses used recently for navigation, directions, directory
searches, or mapping. When an address in the list is used within AT&T
Navigator, it is promoted to the head of the list.
Viewed as a map.
NOTE: Tap Sync with attnav.com to pull in any addresses you added on the
pre-planning website.
Your Recent places list can grow to an unlimited length. If you have a large Recent Places list, it may be easier to
use the Find function to find your desired Recent Place. To use the Find function, enter one or more alphanumeric
characters in the Find text box. As you type, the closest match(es) will appear at the top of the list.
NOTE: You can also use the DEL key on the BlackBerry keyboard.
Address – Typing In
Enter a street address by typing in the appropriate fields. The address is
automatically saved to your Recent Places list.
2. Type in a street address. Partial entry (5 or more letters) is okay for the
street name. You can also leave the Address field blank and just type in a
city and state or zip code to use the address of the city’s center. As you
enter characters, nearby cities or addresses that you have recently visited
will be automatically suggested. To save time, you can choose the
suggestions before you finish typing.
AT&T Navigator checks to see if the address that you entered can be found.
AT&T Navigator prompts you to modify the address if the address is too new to
be found in the mapping database or if the street number cannot be found for
some other reason; for example, if the street number does not exist. AT&T
Navigator may also propose an address closest to the range of your entry.
1. Tap the Say It button and follow the voice prompts to dictate an address.
The prompts will vary, depending on the menu from which you accessed
the “Speak In” feature.
TIP: Speak clearly into your device when the microphone graphic changes
color. You do not need to hold or press any keys to start or stop speaking. If
you have finished dictating the address and want to manually end the “Speak
In” feature without waiting for an automatic end to the recording, tap Finish.
1. Press the “$” (Speaker) button on your BlackBerry device from any of the Speak It screens.
2. The BlackBerry will automatically search for any paired Bluetooth headsets.
3. Tap the Say It button on available screens to dictate an address. You can also use the Convenience key that
you set on either side of the device.
4. Press “$” (Speaker) again to redirect the audio through the BlackBerry’s speaker.
City
Enter a city by typing in the appropriate fields. The city is automatically saved
to your Recent Places list.
2. Type in a city for directions to the city’s center. As you enter characters,
nearby cities will be automatically suggested. To save time, you can
choose the suggestions before you finish typing.
3. Tap “Where” and define a search location (the default is your current
location).
Intersection
Enter an intersection by typing in the appropriate fields. The intersection is
automatically saved to your Recent Places list.
After you choose a Drive To location, the Getting Route pop-up appears. Tap
the Edit Route button before the Getting Route progress bar reaches 100% to
be taken to the Trip Confirmation screen, where you can tap on a field to edit.
After you are done editing, tap the Get Route button to get directions.
NOTE: You can also make adjustments to your route style in Menu >>
Settings >> Navigation.
Tap the “Origin” field on the Trip Confirmation screen to choose a new starting
point for the trip. The menu that appears is almost identical to the Drive To
menu.
Edit Destination
Tap the “Destination” field on the Trip Confirmation screen to access the Drive
To menu page and choose a new ending point for the trip.
Tap the “Route Settings” field on the Trip Confirmation screen to edit your route
style:
Fastest – This default Route Style finds the fastest driving route.
Shortest – This Route Style may or may not take more time to
drive but it shows you the shortest distance.
When you choose one of the above options, you will see a screen where you
can choose what to avoid on your route. Tap a line to select/unselect and then
tap the Done button.
NOTE: This screen does not appear if you selected “Pedestrian” as your Route
Style.
If you are not moving, AT&T Navigator may not know your direction of travel,
so the first few driving directions may be incorrect since AT&T Navigator may
initially make an incorrect assumption. However, once you start moving, AT&T
Navigator learns your direction of travel and provides an updated set of driving
directions.
TIP: Tap the turn icon at any time on the navigation screen to replay the audio.
Tap the directional heading icon (red arrow) to switch between 2D and 3D
maps.
The lead times for the audible guidance tones are increased proportionally to your driving speed. This allows more
time for changing lanes before a turn if you are driving at highway speeds as opposed to driving more slowly on
NOTE: If you are using a Bluetooth headset, be sure to press the “$” (Speaker) key on the device while in
navigation mode so that you will be able to hear the audio prompts.
Audio Replay
If you wish to hear an updated informational message for the current route segment, simply tap the turn icon in the
upper-left corner.
Miss a Turn?
Whenever you miss a turn, turn the wrong way, turn too early or too late, or otherwise get off the planned route to
your destination, the AT&T Navigator automatically creates a new route to your desired destination, audibly
announce, “Rerouting,” and give you a new set of instructions.
If you realize you have missed a turn or have otherwise gotten off the route, just keeping driving. AT&T Navigator
detects your current location and recalculates a new set of driving directions to get you back on track.
It may take approximately 15 to 30 seconds for AT&T Navigator to update your route. If during this process you
make additional deviations from your current route, AT&T Navigator may have to contact its servers for another
new route.
Since AT&T Navigator requires access to your carrier’s network, if you are off route and outside of the carrier’s
coverage area, you must return to your carrier’s coverage area in order for AT&T Navigator to recalculate your
route.
Navigation Views
The default navigation view is 3D moving maps, but you may wish to use the 2D Map view instead. Tap the
directional heading icon (red arrow) to switch between 2D and 3D maps. You can also change the default
navigation view in Menu >> Settings >> Navigation >> Map Style (see page 72 for more information).
This view allows you to see how the road ahead is organized, similar to the
perspective of a bird flying above the route. You can see the route to your
destination as a blue overlay on one of the roads with white triangles leading
you in the correct direction. Orange arrows mark any upcoming turns.
The name of the street you are currently on is displayed at the bottom of the
screen. The name of the street for your next turn is displayed at the top.
2D Moving Map
The 2D view allows you to see how the road network is organized, similar to the
perspective of a cartographer looking down on a map.
The name of the street you are currently on is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
The name of the street for your next turn is displayed at the top.

Speed Limit
The legal speed limit will be displayed on the screen for major roads and
highways.
Lane Assist
The Lane Assist feature is designed to help you determine which lane(s) to be
in at a multi-lane highway junction or an intersection. As you approach a turn or
junction, the Lane Assist graphic will be displayed on the screen with correct
lanes highlighted for your route.
If your Traffic Camera choice under Menu >> Settings >> Navigation is “On,”
you will see an icon when you are approaching a traffic camera. Traffic camera
data is reported by users of AT&T Navigator.
Navigation Menu
In the navigation screen, press the Menu key or the trackball to choose from
the menu as shown in the illustration to the right.
TIP: The letters in parentheses next to a menu item shows “Hot Keys” that you
can use on the keypad to quickly access the feature without calling up the
Menu.
Stop the navigation and go back the AT&T Navigator main menu. You can
always resume your latest trip in the Drive To screen.
NOTE: You can also press the C key on the phone’s keypad during
navigation to report a traffic camera. Traffic Camera reports expire after
45 minutes.
Edit Route
Edit the Origin, Destination, or Route Settings for your trip. See page 35
for more details.
Search Along
Use the Search menu to find the desired locations along your navigation route.
For example, find every Mexican restaurant on your route between San
Francisco and Sacramento.
NOTE: You can also press the S key on the phone’s keypad during navigation
to call up the Search Along screen.
After you have entered a keyword for your search or selected from the
available categories, you have the following search options:
The results screen displays how many miles off your route each restaurant is.
Choose a restaurant from the Search Along list to get driving directions from
your current location to the restaurant.
After you arrived at your destination from Search Along Route, you will be
given the option to:
End the trip and go back to the AT&T Navigator main menu.
NOTE: You do not have to go to Drive To >> Resume Trip to continue to your
original destination.
Map Summary
The entire route from your starting location to your destination is drawn on a
map, complete with the latest traffic alerts and traffic flow information. The
route is displayed as a blue line connecting the Start and Finish flags. Tap a
traffic alert to read traffic details.
Highways and major roads with traffic flow information are color-coded by
speed in each direction of travel:

point of interest
Points of interests are ordered based on how they were sorted on the Search Results page. If sorted by distance,
the #1 point of interest is the one closest to the search location. If sorted by rating, the #1 point of interest is the one
with the highest rating.
If you are viewing the Map Results screen from the Address Details screen, the search result number for that point
of interest is highlighted by default. For example, if you are looking at the third search result and choose “Map It”
from the menu, the third result appears in the center of the page.
3. The Most Popular search results screen displays items that are
frequently given higher star ratings. By default, results are sorted by the
number of points they have received (popularity).
Popularity is calculated by the user-generated ratings, averaged by considering
the scores of the ratings and the number of users that have rated the location.
A location accrues points based on how many stars it is given by AT&T
Navigator users. When a location consistently achieves above-average ratings,
its popularity count increases. Negative ratings lower the popularity count of the
location.
Ratings
You can submit your rating for businesses, indicated by the number of stars (the range is from 1 to 5).
3. In the Rating screen, tap the number of stars to choose a rating. Your
rating will be averaged with other users’ ratings and will affect the
location’s popularity points.
NOTE: If you tap on the “Rate This” option for a location that you have already
rated, the original rating is displayed by default. If you submit a modified rating,
the old rating is excluded from the average and replaced with the new rating,
and the number of reviews remains the same.
There are several ways in which you can view a map and traffic information:
1. From the Maps & Traffic option in the AT&T Navigator Main Menu. A map of your current or last known
location is automatically displayed when you choose this option. To view a map of a different area, choose
Menu >> Change Location.
You can view a map of: your Home Address, a Favorite Place, a Recent Place, an address you saved in
your BlackBerry Address Book (Contacts), an Address, a City, a Business, an Airport, or an Intersection.
For example, from the AT&T Navigator Main Menu, choose Drive To >> My Favorites >> highlight a location
>> Menu key >> Map It.

feedback surveys, simply check the box, “Do not ask me for feedback after trips.”
If you ignore the call, AT&T Navigator resumes and continues with the function
that you were using before the call came in.
NOTE: When AT&T Navigator briefly uses the data network, incoming calls may be blocked. When you are on an
incoming call, AT&T Navigator is still running and will periodically collect a GPS fix from the internal GPS receiver.
When this fix is taken, there may be a very brief loss of intelligibility on the received audio from the caller.
Share Address – Share the Contact’s address with other Contacts from your BlackBerry Address
Book or from recipients whose phone numbers you provide.
When incoming calls are blocked due to AT&T Navigator’s use of your carrier’s data network, phone calls go to
your voice mail if you have a voice mail service available.
By default, your PIN is the last four digits of your phone number, but you can always change it on the pre-planning
website.
5. Click Save.
NOTE: You can find your current PIN number by selecting Menu >> About >> Your PIN Number:
From the AT&T Navigator Main Menu, press Menu key and choose “Exit.”
NOTE: If you press the Escape key, AT&T Navigator will be suspended
(running in the background) instead of exited.

AT&T Navigator from your BlackBerry.
NOTE: You should always remove AT&T Navigator before completing a reinstall of the AT&T Navigator
application.
1. In the BlackBerry Main Menu, go to Options (depending on your hardware, you may need to first enter
Settings).
You can also log in to the AT&T Pre-Planning website http://www.attnav.com to use features such as:
Route planning for a trip by entering the starting and destination addresses (this does not update
information on your device).
Finding restaurants, motels, stores, gas stations, etc. using the Directory (Biz Finder). You can also get
addresses, phone numbers, maps, and directions.
Adding an address and saving it to the My Favorites list on your device. The next time you launch the
AT&T Navigator application on your device, the new address will appear in your My Favorites and
Recent Places lists.
NOTE: Favorites created on the website will only show up in your My Favorites list on the device after you
tap the “Sync” option on the Favorites page within AT&T Navigator.
Manage addresses in your My Favorites and Recent Places lists (both of which update information on
your device). These lists can grow to an unlimited length. You can also delete addresses you no
longer need.
Manage an independent Web address book (saved to your Web address book only, not saved to your
device).
Update your personal information including your home and work addresses and your email address.
If you need to migrate your AT&T Navigator account to a different phone number, please call AT&T Navigator
Customer Support at 1-800-331-0500. For security reasons, you cannot perform this change unassisted.
Account cancelled
Your AT&T Navigator account has been cancelled. Contact AT&T Customer Support at 1-800-331-0500 (or dial
611 from your handset).
You do not have a valid AT&T Navigator account. Contact AT&T Customer Support at 1-800-331-0500 (or dial 611
from your handset).
Move to an area where your device has a clearer view of the sky and can still connect with your device. Please
note that some car windshields that have heat-reflective coatings may reduce the quality of the GPS signal. Your
device should announce when you have adequate GPS signal again.
Invalid login
Your account number is your 10-digit mobile phone number beginning with area code. Your PIN is a 4-digit
number, by default the last 4 digits of your phone number. Your PIN can be accessed on your BlackBerry from
Menu >> About >> Your PIN Number.
If for some reason you cannot access your PIN, contact AT&T Customer Support at 1-800-331-0500 (or dial 611
from your handset).
Low battery
The GPS will not work if the device’s battery charge level is below about 15%. Starting with a freshly charged
standard battery, we have used AT&T Navigator for around 4 hours before it became necessary to connect the
charging cable. If you get a low battery warning, connect a charging cable as soon as possible. In some cases, you
may need to wait a while for the battery to become sufficiently charged so that the GPS receiver will work.
If the carrier network signal is weak, move to an area where reception is better and try the function that requires
network access again.
AT&T Navigator is having technical problems with the specific request that you made. This can be due to an
address that it cannot find, or mapping data that does not allow routing from where you are to where you want to
go. In this case, try to use a nearby address.
If you get an advisory message that AT&T Navigator is not available, exit the application and then re-launch it. If the
problem recurs, it may be due to a temporary server outage.
AT&T Navigator could not generate a route between the two endpoints of the route. This may be a temporary error
if you have a weak GPS signal when establishing the origin, but may be due to errors in the map data in the area
around the destination.
Unable to login
Someone may be fraudulently using your account. You will need to change your PIN (see page 77) and attempt to
log in again.
You may see this message for several different reasons: a) your data plan is not active, b) your WIX services are
not enabled, c) you are outside of coverage, d) the data network is currently experiencing difficulties, or
e) the AT&T Navigator server is not acknowledging your device’s attempt to communicate.
Call AT&T Navigator Customer Support at 1-800-331-0500 (or dial 611 from your handset).
You do not have a valid AT&T Navigator or AT&T Navigator Global Edition account. Order AT&T Navigator or
AT&T Navigator Global Edition by calling AT&T Navigator Customer Support at 1-800-331-0500 (or dial 611 from
your handset).
During the installation process, what happens if I get a “Cannot connect to server” message?
If you see the above error during the installation and login process, most likely your BlackBerry needs to be
configured to allow the TeleNav GPS Navigator application to use the data network. Please follow these simple
steps from the BlackBerry home screen:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Options.
4. Choose Applications.
5. Once the applications list has been populated, highlight AT&T Navigator and press the BlackBerry
Menu button.
6. Set the application settings for “Connections”, “Interactions” and “User Data” to “Allow” and save
your changes.
20. FAQs
The data plan allows you to access nationwide routes, maps, and Directory content from the AT&T Navigator
servers using the data communication features of your device. These services are different from your cellular
airtime. To order a data plan from AT&T, please contact their customer support directly:
How long after I apply for the data service until I can use my AT&T Navigator application?
Generally, it takes until the following business morning before the data services are fully provisioned. If you already
have data services, it should be no more than 4 hours before an added AT&T Navigator plan is active.
AT&T Navigator uses data to provide its navigation functions. Using data does not use any of your voice minutes.
However, the Call It feature within the AT&T Navigator application that allows you to make calls to businesses does
use voice minutes.
How do I increase or decrease the voice prompt volume and control the backlighting?
Speaker volume can be controlled with the volume buttons on the right-hand side of the device. If the speaker
volume is set to at least mid-range and you are still not receiving audio prompts, verify that your device profile is not
set to vibrate or quiet. To change your profile settings, choose the Profiles icon on the BlackBerry Main Menu (it
looks like a loudspeaker).
Why don’t I hear audio navigation prompts when I am using a Bluetooth headset?
If you are using a Bluetooth headset, be sure to press the “$” (Speaker) key on the device while in navigation mode
so that you will be able to hear the audio prompts. You can also choose Menu >> Bluetooth On during a navigation
session. A Bluetooth symbol will be shown on the screen if you have redirected the audio through a Bluetooth
headset.
GPS accuracy can range from 20m (approx. 65 ft) to 100m (approx. 328 ft). Most of the time, the GPS is accurate
to less than 50 meters (approx. 164 ft).
The GPS requires an open, clear view of the sky. Buildings, covered parking areas, tunnels, and dense foliage can
cause the GPS receiver to be unable to locate a GPS satellite or may cause extended initialization time (time to first
GPS fix).
If you are parked in a covered parking lot or near a tall building, it is recommended that you move into an open area
and then begin to use the AT&T Navigator service.
Why does the GPS not work near buildings and other tall objects?
The GPS uses signals from satellites so it needs a clear view of the sky. Tall buildings and other objects that block
the GPS receiver’s view to the sky may make it impossible to determine your location. Sometimes the satellites are
not overhead but near the horizon; in these cases, the GPS receiver in your device must have a clear view of the
horizon.
The AT&T Navigator application on your device alerts you if you do not have a valid GPS signal. If this happens,
move to an area where there is a clear view of the sky so the receiver can hear the GPS signals from space.
What happens if I’m using AT&T Navigator for driving directions and I lose the GPS signal while driving
across a bridge or through a tunnel or lose the GPS signal for some other reason?
AT&T Navigator remembers the speed at which you were driving before losing the GPS signal. AT&T Navigator
continues to give you driving directions based on an estimate of the projected distance that you may have traveled
at your last recorded rate of speed. AT&T Navigator recalculates your current position when you regain a GPS
signal and adjusts your driving directions accordingly.
I noticed there are stars next to some restaurants I have viewed or saved. How is popularity rated?
Popularity is calculated by the user-generated ratings, averaged by considering the scores of the ratings and the
number of users that have rated the location. A location accrues points based on how many stars it is given by
AT&T Navigator users. When a location consistently achieves above-average ratings, its popularity count
increases. Negative ratings lower the popularity count of the location.
