To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Lizette Rodriguez and I writing to express my interest in the Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit nurse position. I am currently in the fourth semester of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing
program at the University of Arizona and will be graduating in December of 2018. During my
obstetrics clinical rotation, I had the opportunity to go to the NICU and work with a nurse. I was
able to provide care to the neonatal and infants and learn more about the role of a NICU nurse.
The experience I gained contributed to my desire of being a future NICU nurse.

In addition to my obstetrics clinical rotation, other clinical rotations include population health,
intensive care, psychiatric, pediatric, medical-surgical, and long-term care clinical rotation. Over
the course of these clinical sites, I have gained much experience and improved on my skills. For
example, my ability to delegate tasks to others has improved as well as contributed to my
confidence. Delegation is also a part of my strong quality of collaborating with a team. I
recognize the importance of fostering a team collaboration environment because it allows for
support from other nurses and leads to better patient care. Medication administration is another
crucial skill I have gained throughout my clinical rotations. Quality and safety is a vital role in
healthcare and this is always a priority I apply when providing care to patients.

Although I understand that working as a NICU nurse can include emotional experiences, I am
able to separate both professional and personal boundaries. This will help me to overcome any
challenges I may come across. Along with caring for infants, I will have the opportunity of
building a relationship with parents and guardians of the patients.

I believe I would be a strong asset to your team because of my education and experience. I am
up-to-date with evidence-based practice and will apply this to all of my patient care. My
ambition and personal values also match the values and goals of your healthcare organization. I
