PAPER REQUIREMENTS

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course enables students to analyze the growth and development of Philippine
literature in English from 1900 to the present along with socio-historical events as shown
in representative works.
CREDIT: 3 units
PRE-REQUISITE: ENGL 105, ENGL 115, *ENGL 115
*except degree programs which do not require ENGL 115
GRADING SYSTEM
COURSE OUTCOMES
At the end of the semester, the students has the ability to:
1. Define literature and distinguish its functions, forms and elements
2. Trace the historical background of Philippine Literature in English during the
“Apprenticeship Period” (1910-1935)
3. Analyze the nature and socio-cultural foundations of Philippine Literature in English during
Apprenticeship Period through different literary genres
4. Trace the historical background of Philippine Literature in English during the “Emergence
