WONDERLAND
Part 1:

Read this text about Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice In Wonderland.

The author of Alice in Wonderland is Lewis Carroll. This is a pseudonym. His real name was Charles Lutwidge Dogson. He
invented his pseudonym translating his real name to Latin and then to English:

Lutwidge (English)- Ludovic (Latin) = Lewis

Charles (English)- Carolus (Latin) = Carroll

Carroll was born in Daresbury, Cheshire (England) on 27th January 1832. His father was a priest and his mother a housewife.
He had got three brothers and seven sisters. Carroll enjoyed entertaining his brothers and his sisters with stories and games.
His favourite subject at school, for that reason he studied Mathematics at University. He became a writer, a priest, a
mathermatician, a logician, and a photographer.
In 1856, Carroll met Henry Liddell and his family. He looked after Henry Liddell's three daughters: Lorina, Edice
and Alice Liddell. When he went for a walk on boat with the Liddells girls, he invented stories and games to
enjoy the three girls. These stories and games were the origin of Alice in Wonderland.
