Subject: PROPOSED FOUR-STOREY COMMERCIAL BUILDING
Date Started: 07 November 2017
Owner: Far East Noble House Inc.
Location: Kangleon Street, Maasin City, Southern Leyte

This report presents the results of the site observations of a commercial building under construction. Two sections of
5th year and one section of 3rd year SJC’s engineering students visited a construction site and must write a report.
Following were its objectives:
 To get an understanding how multi-storey building is constructed.
 To gain experience in construction project.
 To learn and prepare ourselves for the upcoming school requirements/projects.
During this visit, I am eager to learn for we are task to submit a proposed project as our major requirement to
pass our subjects. This visit is very essential and very helpful to start our project. I am glad because the building
being constructed has a parking space which is my subject for my proposed project. This parking space at Gaisano
Grand Maasin could be my reference for my proposed project.
So I am focused in asking the project engineer, Engr. Benjamin Sarmiento, about the parking space. Other
details and information comes after. I have observed that they use much bigger spacer than what I have seen from
the previous site visit that I have attended before. I have also learned the output per hour or per day of the
machinery used in the construction. We students also witness a cable is used other than RSB in reinforcing the
structure. I have learned a lot and wanted to start my proposed project as soon as possible since the experience
gave me many ideas on how to do my project.
The management there was strict so we are only allowed to observe from a distance but it didn’t hinder us to gain
knowledge. The men at work, as we observe were all wearing safety gears so we could really tell that the management puts
the safety of their men into consideration at a high priority. And as for we, engineering students was also required to wear
hard hats for our own safety during this educational visit. At the end, we have been informed that the Gaisano Grand Maasin
would be accessible to the public in year 2021.
