I Piecing

Note: Always use a full length of fab-

ric for the center Be sure to add
seam allowances.

If using two lengths of fabric, cut one

in half lengthwise, Stitch split fabric
sections to each side of full fabric
width,

With right sides togethe( pin trian-
gular section to opposite end,
matching edges marked "S". Stitch,
taking up a 1/ 4"(6mm) saam
allowance. B

Starting at one end, draw

lines parallel to bias edge
on wrong side of fabric,
spacing 2"(5cm) apart.

With right sides togatha( fold fabric,

matching drawn lines; then ofset the
lines so that one strip extends on each
side. Stitch, taking up a 1/ 4"(6mm) seam
allowance.

Cut along drawn lines until enti., tube is one continuous bias strip.

1/ 2yd(O.Sm) of 44",4S"(11Scm) wide fabric will yield a 2 1/4"(S.7cm) wide continuous

bias strip applOximately 9yds(B.3m) long.

1/2yd(O.Sm) of SB",60"(1S0cm) wide fabric will yield a 2 1/4"(S.7cm) wide continuous

bias strip applOximately 12yds(11.4m) long.

Encase cord inside strip, having raw edges even. Using a zipper foot, stitch next to cOlI,
stretching bias gentl~
