International experience has shown that closed black and white thinking, which makes a sharp and
unsurmountable difference between “us” and “them”, drives individuals towards more extreme
views of the world around them and adopting the ideas of others as their own. Therefore, this IOM
MoviEQ methodology deals with the structure of thinking that helps individuals shift from black and
white categories towards a broader perspective.
MoviEQ workshops are developed by researches from the Cambridge University and IOM experts as
a response to the need to promote and develop critical thinking, emotional intelligence and
empathy in young people at risk.
The MoviEQ workshop methodology is based on the scientific postulates of Integrative Complexity
theory that reaches the brain processes at a deep level, thus enabling the participants to develop
their own complex narratives, which facilitate realistic solutions to the everyday problems.
MoviEQ workshops comprise 7 sessions, focusing on different topics very relevant to the social
context of the young people and their local communities.
What do we offer?
4 days of training to conduct MoviEQ workshops (the training will be organized during the
second half of November 2018) in English language
Mentoring program for finalization and taking facilitator’s exam
A course graduation certificate issued by IOM and Cambridge University
Materials for the replication of the MoviEQ workshops within your own job context
Training program
The participation in the MoviEQ workshop provides a unique experience of the MoviEQ workshop
impact through an IC journey. Do not be analytical during the sessions. Take part in the activities in
the sessions and experience the perceptions of the future participants. Reflect your experience at
the end of each session.
2. Theories. Analytical learning
The good understanding of the entire methodology requires a good knowledge of the theories
underlying the methodology. The Integrative Complexity Theory facilitates the understanding of the
structure of the sessions. In addition, you will become familiar with the theory of change underlying
most of the methodologies used by IOM. You will learn about how the methodology influences
behavioural changes caused by the interaction between the left and the right hemisphere in the
session focusing of neuroscience. In this session you will discover everything about the IC journey, as
well as the moment of insight in differentiation and integration.
Through the assignments of the facilitators and the exercises, you will adopt the basic facilitating
skills necessary to manage these workshops. In addition to the assignments, the presented practical
examples will show you the challenges facing the facilitators. During the activities in pairs you will
get the opportunity to try out the facilitator role at the training, and you will get feedback reflecting
your performance. After each session, during all four days, in the questions and answers section, you
can get additional information about the segments of the methodology requiring additional
clarifications.
