 The National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) publishes the peer reviewed journal,
Science Scope, which is a journal that supports middle school science teachers.
 Intended audience
o This journal is used by middle school science teachers, it provides ideas for
teacher to implement within the classrooms and provides science literacy for
students. Several of the articles in the journal are science focused and then the
journal provides activities that can go along with the journal for students to do.
 Publishing
o Published monthly starting in August which lines up with the beginning of a
school year
 Main Topics
o The journal is published every month with a different theme and the articles
discuss either using the topic in the classroom or using the theme within the
article.
 Editor
o The editor of Science Scope is Patty McGinnis
o Every journal, the editor writes an article discussing the topic of the issue, that is
feature at the beginning of the magazine.

o The featured readings do not have regular contributors
o Citizen Science is written by Jill Nugent
o Disequilibrium is written by Tom Hoover

o I came upon this journal through using the National Science Teacher Association
as a SPA, and there is also an NSTA chapter at JMU.
