Dr. Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical


Engineering & Technology (formerly known as DCET) was set
up in collaboration with Illionis Institute of Technology, USA
and Panjab University. This institution is one of the leading
institutions which is continually imparting quality technical
education since past 60 years.
With a sprawling campus it is equipped with state of the art
equipment's and was initially headed by Prof. R.E. Peck of IIT
Chicago. Over the years this institute has continued to
maintain global standards of excellence. Our faculty continues
to be eminently distinguished and highly quali ed.
Over the course of time, in addition to B.E. (Chemical
Engineering), B.E. (Food Technology) at the undergraduate
level and Integrated B.E.(Chemical Engineering)-MBA,
M.E.(Chemical Engineering), M.E.(Chemical Engineering with
DR. SANCHITA CHAUHAN specialization in Environment) and M.Sc.(Industrial Chemistry)
B.E. (PU), M.E.(PU), Ph.D (IIT DELHI)

Technology) and the rich heritage of Panjab University

Genesis
Panjab university traces its roots to the University of the Punjab established on 14 October 1882 at
Lahore (now in Punjab, Pakistan) which was the 4th university of undivided India. However it was
formally established in India on 1947 and the present campus in Chandigarh spreading over 550
acres was setup on 1956. Today Panjab University consists of 75 teaching and research departments
and 15 centres for teaching and research at the main campus located at Chandigarh. It has 190
affiliated colleges spread over the eight districts of Punjab state and union-territory of Chandigarh,
with Regional Centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana and
Hoshiarpur cities in Punjab state and has
produced many distinguished alumni in the
different facets of society. Panjab university is
alma matter of two of our former Prime
Minister's I.K. Gujral and Dr. Manmohan Singh,
our former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma
and many more distinguished public gures
such as Sushma Swaraj (Minister of External
Affairs), Kalpana Chawla (NASA Astronaut),
Kirron Kher (Actress/MP), Anupam Kher
(Renowned Actor), Prof. Yash Pal (Former UGC
Chairman) many more. It is also the only university in India to produce 2 Nobel laureates Dr.
Hargobind Khorana and Dr. Abdus Salam.

Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar Auditorium- State of the
art auditorium for conducting seminars, guest
lectures etc.
Computer laboratories- The lab is up to date
with the latest hardware and software. The
computers lab is having LAN facility and
software's such as MATLAB, Excel, C & C++ are
installed in each system.

A.C. Joshi library – It is the central library of


the university and was inaugurated in 1963 by
Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister
of India. The key facilities in the library are:
Ÿ The Library has a collection of over 6.4 lakh
publications which include books, bound
volumes of journals, theses/dissertations,
rare books, reports, government
documents, back les of newspapers.
Ÿ A prized collection of 1490 manuscripts. Departmental library- Apart from the

Enactus is an international non-pro t
organization that brings together

the power of entrepreneurial action to

of living for people in need. Recently
Enactus-Dr. S.S.B. UICET has bagged
2nd runner up position in Enactus
National Competition 2017.

E- CELL
An entrepreneurship cell has been started under TEQIP 3 with the aim to support upcoming and
promising start up ideas from the students of the institute.
INDIAN PLASTIC INSTITUTE
IPI is a student organization that aims at
sustainable and judicious use of plastics.
IPI has successfully organized industrial
visits to industries like Reliance, Windsor and
D i p l a s t a n d c o n d u c t e d e ve n t s l i k e
'Navonmesh', 'Plastique' and also a
awareness cum cleanliness drive.

Dr. SSB UICET, Panjab University
runs the Chandigarh regional
centre of IICHE and has hosted
the annual session of IICHE,
CHEMCON in the years 1977,
1999, 2008 & 2014.
The student chapter of IICHE has
