Distribution:

Mockingbirds are a type of birds that is endemic to the


Galapagos.

There are four species in the islands:


•Galapagos Mockingbird: Mimus parvulus
•San Cristóbal Mockingbird: Mimus melanotis
•Española Mockingbird: Mimus macdonaldi
•Floreana Mockingbird: Mimus trifasciatus

They live in family groups witch defend their territory.

Where they live and what they eat?

● Mockingbirds live in the dry and humid forests of the Galapagos.


● They are omnivorous , feeding on a large variety of fruits, insects and even larger
preys.

Natural History

● They reproduce during the rainy season (January- May), when the food is more
abundant.
● Their enemies are: snakes, hawks, owls and the introduced cats and black rats which
prey on them and destroy their habitat.
● The Floreana Mockingbird is very endangered, only 300 birds survive.
● The Galapagos mockingbirds do not imitate other birds.

How do they look?


● Their color is grey, black, white, and brown
● They are 25 cm long
● Their weight is 50-70 gr
● They have a long tail
● Their beak is long and pointy

● pollution
● the introduction of invasive species

Mainly affect the daily life of the mockingbirds and the change in their routine that might
