On Friday, November 16, 2018, at approximately 12:19 PM

officers of the Madison Police Department responded to the

Bancorp South bank located at 2174 Main Street in reference to a

report of a male subject attempting to cash a forged,

counterfeit check at a teller station inside the bank. Upon

arrival and conducting a brief investigation, officers arrested

Christopher K. Talley, age 56, of Gulfport, MS for Uttering

Forgery. Further investigation revealed that two other

individuals near the bank were accomplices of Talley at which

time they were also arrested by officers for Uttering Forgery.

These two individuals were identified as Taurus J. Jefferies,

age 22, of Villa Rica, GA and Tre’von T. Ponder, age 29, of

Stockbridge, GA. Officers also learned through a criminal

history check that Ponder was also wanted for the crime of Home

Invasion in Clayton County, GA.

Upon further investigation, officers and investigators

obtained a search warrant for a vehicle being used by the

suspects as well as for several hotel rooms at a hotel in

Ridgeland, MS. With the assistance of the Ridgeland Police

Department, officers and investigators executed the search

warrants and located printers and other devices believed to be

involved in the forgery and production of the counterfeit check.

Individuals believed to also be involved in the scheme had

previously left the hotel rooms and were located traveling in a

vehicle on Interstate 20 in Clinton, MS. With the assistance of

the Clinton Police Department, officers and investigators

stopped the suspects’ vehicle and arrested Ronald M. Wince, age

27, of Stockbridge, GA; Atravius James, age 24, of Atlanta, GA;

Eugene Warner, age 59, of Vicksburg, MS; and Willie Hobson, age

38, of Jackson, MS. All were charged with Uttering Forgery.

All of the individuals arrested were transported to the

Madison County Detention Center where they await their initial

court appearance in Madison Municipal Court. This is an ongoing

investigation and more arrests and charges are possible.
