Inspection Before Use

WARNING
• Lifting equipment should be inspected prior to every use.

The pre-use check for plate clamps should include the following:
1. Check body for deformation, cracks and corrosion.
2. Check body to ensure identification, WLL and grip range are
all clearly legible.
3. Check that the following are free from dirt, grease and any
other impediments. Also check the following components
for correct operation and signs of wear, corrosion, cracks and
distortion.
• Cam and Pad
• Rivets / Bolts / Nuts
• Spring
• Connecting link
• Top Shackle
• Locking Device

Care In Use
WARNING
• Plate clamps should always be used in line with good
lifting and rigging practice and as per the manufacturers
recommendations.
• Incorrect Plate clamp use could result in a dangerous
situation that could cause property damage, serious injury
or death.

1. Do not lift or transfer a load over people.


2. Do not exceed the WLL of the clamp.
3. Do not lift a load with the locking mechanism in the unlocked
position.
4. Always use a safety hook to lift the clamp. Never use an open
hook without a safety catch.
5. Always position clamps in line with the safety hook.
6. Always ensure plate is correctly inserted into the jaw of the
clamp.
7. Clamps that have been overloaded or damaged in any way
should be immediately taken out of service and returned to
A. Noble & Son Ltd for repair or replacement.
8. Do not use clamps on material with hardness in excess of 300
Brinell.
9. Do not lift more than one plate at a time.
10. Do not use the clamp for horizontal transfer of materials
11. Do not lift plate with mill scale, grease or any other coating
that may prevent the gripping surface from making solid
contact with the plate.
12. Do not lift tapered plates.
13. Do not weld or modify the clamp.
14. Do not use clamps to handle material with temperatures
below minus 18˚C and above 107˚C.
15. Do not exceed an included sling angle of 60 degrees when
doing a two clamp lift with a two legged sling.
