STAGE 1 – DESIRED RESULTS

Unit Title: Geometry

Established Goals (big ideas): – Properties of objects and shapes can be described, measured, and
compared using volume, area, perimeter, and angles.
Rationale: By scaffolding from the very basics upwards, students will learn the foundations of
geometry needed to support their future learning.

Essential Question(s):
- How can I identify/classify various shapes and angles?
- What are the various lines that make those shapes and angles?
- How can I draw shapes and angles?

Students will be able to: Students will know:

- Visualize to explore mathematical - Angle measurement and classification

concepts - Triangles
- Use reasoning and logic to explore, - Combinations of transformations
analyze, and apply mathematical ideas

STAGE 2 – ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE

Performance Tasks and/or culminating tasks: Other Evidence: formative and summative

- Students will create a geometry town using - Worksheets

all of the geometry concepts they’ve learned - Review quizzes
they’ve learned until now - Discussion and observation

Key Criteria:
- Students will learn how to identify, measure, draw, plot, slide and flip lines, angles, and various
shapes.
- Students will show understanding of these concepts in their final geometry town project.
