Title: Process Improvement for Changeover at Carib Brewery

Background

Carib Brewery is an industry leader and has dominated the regional market in the
production of go-to beverages for locals and visitors. Carib Brewery brands are
internationally recognized and the Carib Beer insignia is known around the world as a
symbol of the Caribbean’s blue waters and year-round sunshine. The business has been in
existence since 1947.

The Project

Line 6 is used for both local and export markets. This line has high s.k.u. (stock kept unit)
flexibility based on its configuration of equipment. This means that a high frequency of
changeovers is done on this line, consuming large time windows and reducing the actual
time to produce. The changeover process can vary from shift to shift by as many as 4
hours since the method used is not consistent. This eventually leads to losses in
production run times and late delivery of the product to customers.

Deliverables
 Review and analyse the current process map for the changeover process for each
piece of equipment on Line 6.
 Conduct a time-motion study of the changeover process.
 Recommend improvements to the changeover process.
