for  educators Psalm 146:9

NIV  -­‐ The  Lord  watches  over  the  foreigner  and  sustains  the  fatherless  and  the  widow,  but  he  
frustrates  the  ways  of  the  wicked.

RSV -­‐ The  Lord  watches  over  the  sojourners, he  upholds  the  widow  and  the  fatherless;   but  the  
way  of  the  wicked  he  brings  to  ruin.

KJV -­‐ The  Lord  preserveth  the  strangers;  he  relieveth  the  fatherless  and  widow:  but  the  way  of  
the  wicked  he  turneth  upside  down.

LB -­‐ He  protects  the  immigrants  and  cares  for  the  orphans  and  widows.  But  he  turns  topsy-­‐
turvy  the  plans  of  the  wicked.

Note to the educator

Depending  on  where  you  are  in  the  U.S.,  immigrant  children  are  a  m ajor  part  of  the  public  
school  community.  M any  of  these  children  have  unique  disadvantages:  language  barriers,

cultural  differences,  lack  of  parental  support  on  school  assignments/projects  and  are  m ore  
subject  to  ridicule  and  bullying.  As  His  people,  we  can  set  a  keen  eye  on  their  difficulties.  W e  
can  offer  assistance  and  praise.  W e  can  show  them  unconditional  love.  W e  can  pray  for  them  
and  ask  God  to  fulfill  His  promise  to  them.  He  is  the  One  W ho  watches  over  the  sojourners,  the  
foreigners,  the  strangers  and  the  immigrants.
