I.

Rationale

Various studies have shown that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
It provides us energy and improves our concentration for our daily activities. However,
for children living in extreme poverty, breakfast can be their one and only meal. A meal
that can define if they will survive or not. Some of the students often arrive with an empty
stomach, making it harder to focus on lessons. A daily meal provides better nutrition and
health and greater achievement in education. This is the reality that our group aims to
change. Through our feeding program, we want to provide a delicious and nutritious
meal to children to help decrease the number of malnourishment. Also, feeding program
can contribute to their learning through avoiding hunger and giving them energy by the
food that they eat.

To make this program possible, we have asked our fellow alumni for donations
for the feeding program implementation. This contribution is voluntary and consist of
people who are willing to give their time and effort .Our maximum budget to feed around
23 children is P5, 000. It includes rice, fish, malunggay soup fruits and vegetables. (Php
217 per child) This will be held on the 26th of October, Friday in Poblacion Brgy. 7, Child
Development Center. We will provide healthful meals to the kids to ensure that they do
not start their classes with empty stomachs. The FAITH Alumni in coordination with the
PTA of the Child Development Center will be in charge for the event.

We came up with this event because we want to help the children of Child
Development Center to lessen the number of malnourished children and give them
nutritional foods that they deserve. We all know that not everyone of us are eating
nutritious foods three times a day. Some people are starving because they do not have
the chance to buy food due to poverty. We want to give them nutritious foods even just
for a day and by this event they will be able to realize the importance of nutrition. Also ,
is our way to make other people happy especially the students from Child Development
Center.
II. Beneficiaries

The FAITH alumni’s chosen beneficiaries of the feeding program are the
students from Child Development Center. It is located at Maligaya Compound, Brgy.7, Tanauan
City, Batangas, beside the gymnasium. The school is currently holding 23 students as
mentioned by Mrs. Gina Balbin who is the teacher of the Daycare center. The ages of the
students are ranging from 4-6 years old. Most of the students in the school belong to the
indigent families in the community. The alumnus chose this school because some students are
not eating nutritious foods. The main goal of this program is to help the students to know the
importance of eating nutritious foods.
