Ask them why cover page and content page are important in books.
Explain and model the activity for them (Creating their own nonfiction book)
Smart board game
http://www.ictgames.com/forestPhonics/fullV_public/index.html
In the cover page they need to write the title of the animal they chose on Sunday and make
a book about it.
In the content page they write what information they want us to know and in which page we
will find them.
Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)
Each student will have two papers, one for the cover page and the other one is for the
content page.
In the cover page they need to write the title of the animal they chose on Sunday and make
a book about it.
In the content page they write what information they want us to know and in which page we
will find them.
Assessment (to be done during activity time, who and what will be assessed?)
Students will be assessed in making their own nonfiction book, which contains cover page and content page.
Reflection WWW/EBI
What went well throughout the lesson is that I taught the two features well because I kept asking
them questions about them and they answered correctly. Also, for the activity I gave them clear
instruction on what they’re going to do as well as I made a nonfiction book to model it in front of
them to grasp the idea well. And for this lesson I considered timing because it’s something crucial
to take into account.
It will be even better If I made the activity more challenging for the HA students, because it was so
easy for them to finish, and to have back up plans for example, if one group finished early, I should
give them something else to work on.
Behavior management
The behavior management went well for this class because we switched groups, each teacher took
one group and the other group was playing a game regarding the phonics on the smartboard.
When one group finished the activity, I switched them with other group that was playing with the
phonics game. Even when they switched groups it wasn’t chaos.
Groupings/differentiation
I didn’t do differentiation for this activity, because while doing the activity for them, I already put
lines to guide them for their book.
Next Steps in learning and teaching
The next steps in learning and teaching that I should keep in mind are make the activities more challenging
for the HA students, and also prepare more activities for the students if they finished earlier (back up plans)
