SCHEDULE Of D.!MENSIONS FOR STANDARD GAUGE OF DELHI AIRPORT METRO EXPRESSLINE July 2010

PREAMBLE

. r:c Schedule of Dimensions for Standard Gauge Delhi Airport Metro Express Line has been
;:"qar;:;d on following factors:

Track shall be maintained to the tolerances taken for calculation of Kinematic Envelope as
contained in calculations of Kinematic Envelope by original manufacturer that is CAF, Spain.

The kinematic profile and other infringements have been checked on basis of report of M/s CAF
for calculations of kinematic envelope submitted to RDSo.

:; The clearances are based on assumption that windows are sealed and doors are closed during
movement

-+. The applicable Kinematic Envelope indicated in SOD shall not be violated under any
circumstances except for designated railway operational structures such as platform edges,
platform screen doors, hand rail at back of house, overhead line equipment support structures,
traction feeding cables & wires.

, No workman/equipment/structure are allowed between vehicle and structure gauge during

operation of trains.

6. The Schedule of Dimension is based on eAF rolling stock of maximum 3000rnm width with
emergency evacuation doors at both tapered cab ends.

7. Gauge widening is not provided for this line.

R. The passengers have to be evacuated from front and rear cab doors during the emergencies
therefore lateral clearances have not been considered on this account

INTRODUCTION

The dimensions given herein are to be observed on ail new works and alterations to existing works for
1435 mm gauge (Standard Gauge) Track, unless prior sanction has been obtained from Railway Board
through the Commissioner of Railway Safety to execute works which infringe this Schedule of
Dimensions.

This Schedule of Dimensions (SOD) is applicable to Underground, Elevated and Surface (at-grade)
sections of Delhi Airport Metro Express Line, which shall be with 25 kY A.c. traction system Over Head
current collection. The electric multiple unit (EMU) rolling stock is equipped with scaled windows and
doors closed while in motion.

The Underground section may be with a circular tunnel, arch cavern, rectangular box, or of any other
suitable shape while Elevated section may be with suitable over ground structures such as viaducts. Both,
Underground and 1:lcvatcd sections shall have suitably designed Ballastlcss Track. The Surface section
may have Ballasted Track or if necessary, Ballastless Track.

The Schedule of Dimensions has been divided into the following five chapters:

ii] Allowance for gauge widening on curves

Note: Lateral shift of l Smm due to nosing effect has been included in the Kinematic Envelope
for tangent track (and as a result, included in Structural Gauge) and shall not be subtracted
from the total allowance since the effect is very small.

II
SCHEDULE OF DIMENSIONS FOR STANDARD GAUGE OF DELHI AIRPORT METRO EXPRESS LINE July 2010

For values of curvature effect, refer to Appendix-Z.

iii) Allowance for Cant

(a) For Under Ground (Box Structures), Hlevakd and At-grade Sections
Track cant is achieved by raising the outer rail above the inner rail. The lateral leaning effect
of cant is a function of the height above the grade rail at which the effect is to be determined.
There is an increase in clearance (positive effect) on the inside of a curve.

The lean 'Lee' due to cant at any point at height 'h' above rail level is given by:

Cant Effect

Lee = (+)Cxh/G

where, Lee = Lateral cant effect in mm

C = Applied cant in mm
h = Height above plane of rail in mm
G = Distance between centres of Rail in rnm

Effect of cant on Structure Gauge for inside of a curve (E) is shown in Figure No.4, For value
of cant effect on Structure G-auge, please refer to Appendix - 3 (TNT.) for rectangular box cut
& cover circular & NATM tunnel, Appendix - 3(AG) for At-Grade and Appendix - 3 (ELE) ",
for Elevated Sections respectively.

(b) Circular Tunnds

In case of circular tunnel, the cant is provided by raising the outer rail and suitably shifting the
centre of tilt: circular tunnel towards inside of curve and upwards. This has the same effect as
assuming rotation of the circular tunnd about mid point of top of inner rail resulting in shift of
tunnel centre laterally towards inside of curve and also vertically upwards.
The rigid 01 IE shall also be rotated with the tunnel so as to be along the centreline of vehicle.
For values of horizontal and vertical shifts of centre line of circular tunnel for different values
of cant, refer to Appendix 4 (TNL) and Figure No 3.
iv) Allowance for vertical Curve (Vertical throw)
Vertical throw VIand V2'(in mm) for vertical curve shall be calculated as under:
VI (with vehicle centre in sag or vehicle end on summit) =125 x Bl; R
V2 (with vehicle centre on summit or vehicle end in sag)
= (125 x e I R) - (125 x B2; R)

iii) Allowance for Cant

(a) Under GroWld (Box Structures), Elevated and At-grade Sections
Track cant is achieved by raising the outer rail above the inner rail. The lateral leaning effect
of cant is a function of the height above the grade rail at which the effect is to be determined.
There is a decrease in clearance (negative effect) on the outside of a curve.
The Lean "Lee" due to Cant at any point at height 'h" above rail level is given by:

Cant Effect
I
Lee = -C:s:h/G

where, Lee = Lateral cant effect in nun

C = Applied cant in nun
h = Height above plane of rail in mrn :
G = Distance between centres of Rail in mm I

Effect of cant on Structure Gauge for outside of a curve (F) is shown in Figure No.4, For
value of cant effect on Structure Gauge, please refer to Appendix - 3 (TNL) for rectangular
box cut & cover, circular & NATM tunnel, Appendix - 3(AG) for At-Grade and Appendix - 3
(ELE) for Elevated Sections respectively.

(b) Circular Tunnels

In case of circular tunnel, the cant is provided by raising the outer rail and suitably shifting the
centre of the circular tunnel towards inside of curve and upwards. This has the same effect as
assuming rotation of the circular tunnel about mid point of top of inner rail resulting in shift of
tunnel centre laterally towards inside of curve and also vertically upwards.
The rigid OHE shall also be rotated with the tunnel so as to be along the centreline of vehicle.
For values of horizontal and vertical shi fts of centre line of circular tunnel for different values
of cant, refer to Appendix 4 (TNL) and Figure No 3.

iv) Allowance for vertical Curve (Vertical throw):

Vertical throw VI and V2 (in mm) for vertical CUlYe shall X calculated as under:
V1 (with vehicle centre in sag or vehicle end on summit) =125 x B2/ R
V2 (with vehicle centre on summit or vehicle end in sag)
= (125 x L 2/ R) - (125 X B2/ R)

where
B = Vehicle Bogie centres distance in m
L = Length of vehicle body in In

Values of vertical throw due to vertical radii are given in Figure 5.

nominal wire level by half the applied cant.
l
Adjustment of the overhead line height due to cant shall be based on the formula below This
died varies due to wire stagger as the derermirung point in moved away from centre line
perpendicular to the plane of the rails.

Adjustment of Overhead Line Heigbt due to Cant

V = e/2 - H x (1 - Cos (Sin-I CIG)
