CHAPTER 1.INTRODUCTION

What's in This Document

This document contains twenty exercises which are intended for users of the AgileAssets Asset TradeOff
Analyst system. Every effort is made to ensure that users can successfully use the AgileAssets systems to
efficiently perform the tasks listed in these exercises.

Exercise 1.1: Getting Started – System Discovery

1. Login to the System
2. Open the Portfolio Analyst
3. Open various windows
a. Portfolio Big Pictures/Big Pictures Region Window
b. Trade-Off Objects
4. Create a Quick Link to each of the above windows

CHAPTER 2.TRADEOF BIG PICTURE EXCERCISES

Exercise 2.1: Define Scope of your review

1. Open the Tradeoff Big Picture window (Portfolio Analyst > Plan > Trade-Off Big Picture).
2. Define the scope of your review as follows:
a. Plan Start Year = 2017
b. Plan Number of Years = 5

3. Once defined, the Network Performance window refreshes automatically and points appear on the
graph.

Exercise 2.2: Review efficient frontier of the scenarios in scope

1. Open the Tradeof Big Picture window (Portfolio Analyst > Plan > Trade-Off Big Picture).
2. Review the Scenario combinations in the Network Performance graph.
3. Hover over each point on the graph to see the exact total cost and performance for the combination
scenario.

4. Select a particular Combination on the Network Performance graph by clicking on the point
representing it. Graphs appear in the bottom and right side of the Network Performance graph will
show the budget for Bridge and Pavement and its condition each year.

Exercise 2.3: Review Budgets

1. Open the Tradeof Big Picture window (Portfolio Analyst > Plan > Trade-Off Big Picture).
2. Select a particular Combination on the Network Performance graph by clicking on the point
representing it. Graphs appear in the Treatment Cost (top right object).
3. On the Treatment Cost Graph (top right object), click on Pavement Asset type on the bar.

Upon clicking, the Graph object refreshes instantly to show the budget category for the selected
asset.
