INTRODUCTION
The Presider may very briefly introduce the faithful to the Mass of the Day.

Presider:

D early beloved brothers and sisters,

let us acknowledge the holy presence
who is before us
in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the altar.
As we continue our spiritual journey
towards the celebration of the 500 years
of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines,
we celebrate this year
the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons
We ask you to pray for those in Holy Orders,
our deacons, priests, and bishops,
and those men and women
who consecrated their lives for God.
Pray that our love may not fail
so that we could fulfill our mission
to the Church and to the world.
In a short period of silence,
let us be one with Jesus,
our Good Shepherd and Eternal High Priest.
A few moment of silence is observed.

O God, who made Only Begotten Son

FIRST READING
Corinthians 7:25-35

A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians

B rothers and Sisters:

in read to virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord,
but I give my opinion as one who by the Lord’s mercy
is trustworthy.
So this is what I think best because of the present distress:
that it is a good thing for a person to remain as he is.
Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek a separation.
Are you free of a wife? Then do not look for a wife.
If you marry, however, you do not sin,
nor does an unmarried women sin if she marries;
but such people will experience affliction in their earthly life,
and I would like to spare you that.

I tell you, brothers and sisters, the time is running out.

From now on, let those having wives act as not having them,
those weeping as not weeping,
those rejoicing as not rejoicing,
those buying as not owning,
those using the world as not using it fully.
For the world in its present form is passing away.

I should like you to be free of anxieties.

An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord,
how he may please the Lord.
But a married man is anxious about the things of the world,
how he may please his wife, and he is divided.
 An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious
about the things of the Lord.
so that she may be holy in both body and spirit.
A married woman, on the other hand,
is anxious about the things of the world,
how she may please her husband.
I am telling you this for your own benefit,
not to impose a restraint upon you,
but for the sake of propriety
and adherence to the Lord without distraction.

PERIOD OF SILENT PRAYER

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Presider:

A ware of the danger in putting our trust

in the pleasures of this world,
we lift up our hearts
in fervent prayer to the Father.
For every petition, let us say:

Lord, hear our prayer.

That the Church throughout the world may be an effective sign

of the way to everlasting happiness and eternal life. Let us pray
to the Lord. R./

That we may learn to trust in spiritual values which enrich our

being and not in material possessions which bring discontent to
our souls. Let us pray to the Lord. R./

That we may never close our hearts to those in need but

consciously involve ourselves in Christ’s work of healing and

EUCHARISTIC BLESSING
After the prayer, the priest puts on the humeral veil, genuflects, and takes the monstrance.
He makes the sign of the cross over the people with the monstrance in silence.
PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF THE CLERGY
AND CONSECRATED PERSONS

O God Most Loving Father,

with your priests and those who consecrated their lives to you,
may we be fully and ever united to Christ.
May they be our constant guides in this oneness with you through prayer,
the Eucharist and personal conversion.
We have sinned and we have failed in so many ways.
There are many brothers and sisters in our midst who continue to suffer.
They hunger for truth and justice, for charity and solidarity.
We pray that we may become bearers of the Gospel
that transforms lives as we reach out to our suffering brethren.
We pray that the Gospel may urge us to action,
to witness to charity and compassionate service.
Together may we all be renewed and learn
how to be Servant-Leaders for the Gospel of Christ.
Like him who rose from the table to wash the disciples’ feet,
may we too rise up to the challenge to take care of the poor and the weak,
to be always approachable rather than untouchable,
and “to imbibe the odor of the sheep.”
May our young people who are discerning the gentle call of the Lord to serve,
be filled with courage and determination
to follow you in service with humility and love.
With Mary, Star of the New Evangelization,
may we continue to be instruments of the Gospel
in our country and in the world.

REPOSITION
After the blessing, the priest replaces the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle and genuflects.
Meanwhile the people may sing or say an acclamation, and the minister then leaves.
