Scenario
It is argued that Multinational Enterprises must develop distinct
capabilities if they are to gain competitive edge. These capabilities may
be delivered through a range of effective International Human Resource
Management strategies such as:
• Staffing (recruitment and selection) strategies to deliver appropriate
reporting structures
• Managing an international and culturally diverse workforce
• Managing Talent
• Reward and compensation systems

This assignment requires students to conduct research and analysis into


EITHER ONE of the following multinational corporations in order to
complete Task-1 and Task-2:
• HSBC OR Any MNC of your choice subject to approval from the
tutor

Task-2
The reward and compensation systems in MNC’s should effectively
balance the needs and desires of host country nationals (HCNs),
parent country nationals (PCNs) and third country nationals (TCNs).
MNCs adopt different types of pay systems like Going rate approach,
Balance sheet approach and Local Plus approach to fit into local laws
and global policies.
a. Identify and discuss the complexities involved in the designing of
a reward package for an expatriate employee.
b. Identify and evaluate the reward and compensation practices
offered by your chosen MNC in any two countries of your choice.
Support your answer with relevant International HRM theories and
models.
