Useful vocabulary for describing

Class profile (50 - 75 words) Describe your students (For how long have your
students been learning English? What are the things that interest them? etc.)

 They are students from first semesters of LILE that have been studying
English for 1 or 2 years around, they have an A1 and A2 English level. On
the other hand, they have showed interest to improve their learning skills, so
they want to learn some strategies and methods to apply in English classes.
How this lesson will meet their needs? What do the students know in order to cope
with your lesson? How is this lesson connected to the previous one and to the
next? (50-75 words)

 This lesson will help students to improve their four skills, students know
useful vocabulary to express their ideas and they are able to learn new
vocabulary because they are able to describe a picture. So, this lesson is
linked with the last and next lesson, because they have studied in different
tenses and they will be able to speak, listen, writing and reading developing
different activities improving their knowledge for the next class.
Personal aims: What aspects of your own teaching will you develop in this lesson?

• To develop an equitable class according to the students´ participation.

• To create an enjoyable class making students feel comfortable.

SELF EVALUATION FORM

(Please complete all parts of this form after teaching your lesson)
1. Were your lesson aims achieved? What evidence can I show to prove this?

Since my viewpoint, I think students achieved the aims of the class because they were
able to describe some pictures in two minutes bearing in mind the most relevant ideas
and they made a good use of the useful vocabulary for a general description of a
common image. There are some videos where some students describe some pictures.

2. Were your personal aims achieved? What evidence can I show to prove this?

Yes, I gave students different explanations about how to describe a picture, I played a
video, then I described a picture like an example, I gave them some tips to use useful
words for describing a common picture and they showed have learnt, I noticed they
were interested in the topic, thus, they made a good description of different images. as a
conclusion I think I achieved my aims.

In the previous videos you can watch the description of some picture by the students.

3. Which stages and activities went well? Why did they go well? Give evidence!
First of all, they were able to write a paragraph for describing the first picture. Then
they did a description of the last pictures because they understood the explanation and
the general idea of the topic. Then, they used a useful vocabulary and supposed about
the situations expressed by each picture. After that, they most of them showed their
learning describing with fluency other pictures.

4. Which stages and activities did not go as well as they could have? Why not?
Give evidence!

Although I knew most of the students were going to make some mistakes in the
description of the first images, and they also were not going to use most of the useful
vocabulary for the descriptions. Their first descriptions surprised me, because they
started to describe those picture in a disorder way, they didn’t follow the instructions by
the video and didn’t use at least two useful words seen in the explanation so finally, I
had to remind them how and when to use them.

5. What areas in your teaching would you like to work on in future lessons?

I would like to work on in the writing and listening skills because they showed some
mistakes in their grammar and I noticed that they didn’t know some important words of
the video that facilitated the understanding of the general idea of this one.

Probably I will develop a test where they have to watch some videos and they have to
write a paragraph talking about what they had watched, and they also will have to write
the description of some images with coherent ideas.

6. How can I learn about the areas which I want to improve?

Something important to bear in mind is that if I want to learn about specific areas and
improve about them. First I have to create some aims and to focus in them, I have to
think how I am going to achieve those objectives and to know the reasons which I am
doing that effort.

I consider necessary spend more time practicing and developing some activities about
that specific area. Therefore, its important maintain myself in the learning zone and
avoid to be in the performance zone that many times the last one makes losing time.
