ROSH HA SHANAH

I. ROSH HA SHANAH 2019 IS THE HEAD OF THE YEAR

A. Hebrew New Year 2019 (September 9th 6 pm through September 10th 6 pm)
B. Birthday of Adam or Mankind
C. Time when God judges us about what we have done with His essence in us for the last
year.

II. ROSH HA SHANAH AND THE BIRTHDAY OF MAN

A. Genesis 2:7 (Hebrew Text) “And Hashem God formed the man of dust from the ground
and He blew into his nostrils the soul of life, and man became a living being.”

C. Each year on the birthday of Man we are judged for our actions, reasons, and speech of
the last year. A time of evaluation for God to see how man has carried out their purpose
during the previous year.

D. The King of the Universe opens 2 books on Rosh Hashanah

1. Book of Life
2. Book of Death

E. Each person as a sheep passes before the King and God makes a decision about our life
for the next year. God judges all people individually as if they were sheep going single-
file through a narrow opening in the corral, and He also views them as a Shepherd
surveying His entire flock. We can change our fate for the year by repentance during this
time. Then 10 days later at Yom Kippur (September 18th at 6 pm through September
19th at 6 pm) our fate is sealed. The Feast of Tabernacles is from September 23rd, 6 pm
through October 1st, 6 pm.

III. BLOWING OF THE SHOFAR

It is the sound signifying the Presence of the Majesty of God in His Kingliness.

V. PRAYER FOR ISRAEL AND AMERICA (PASTOR JOSEPH FORNARA)

Leader: Blessed are You Hashem (God of Mercy) King of the Universe, Who has kept us alive,
sustained us, and brought us to this season. May it be your will, Hashem (God of Mercy) and the
God of our ancestors, that our enemies be decimated. May it be your will Hashem (God of
Mercy) that our adversaries be removed and consumed. May our merits be proclaimed before
you; may our merits increase, and may we be fruitful. May we be the head and not the tail. Do
not shut your ears to our cry and relief at this time for Israel and America. Remove from before
You all the accusers and prosecutors of Your people Israel and America. Seal the mouth of Satan
that he may not accuse us, for our eyes are tuned toward You. God, we will exalt you; Our God
the King, be merciful to your people Israel and America.

VI. PRAYER OF THE CONGREGATION (PASTOR ROBERT SMITH)

Almighty King, Who sits on the throne of mercy
Who acts with benevolence and forgives our wrongdoing
We repent for our disobedience, and willful transgressions.
Almighty King who deals charitably with each living being
You have taught us to recite the thirteen attributes of mercy
Remember this day in our behalf as you have made Yourself known to Moses.

Pardon our wrongdoing and our sins, and take us as Your own possession.
Pardon us, our Father, for we have sinned,
Forgive us our King, for we have willfully transgressed,
For You O Lord are Good and Forgiving and Exceedingly Kind
To all those who call upon You.
Forgive our country for all its willful sin.

God, have pity and compassion upon us, and accept our prayers with mercy and favor.”

“Blessed are You oh Lord Our God, King of the Universe and Master of all things, Who has
created all things in accordance with Thy will and for Thy pleasure. On this, the day of creation,
may our prayers of supplication find favor in Your sight.

“King of Kings, Master of all nations, hear our plea.

The heathen rage; men of all nations seek their own sovereignty, ignoring the sovereignty of
God. We too have sought counsel other than in Your courts.”

“Let us return to You, Our God in repentance; may You be gracious unto us O God, for Thy
Name’s sake.”

“Our nation has turned from thee oh God. Our government embraces abomination, abortion and
homosexuality and proclaims the rights of the perverse. Our leaders decry the privileges of
righteousness, calling the exercise of such unjust. Right is spoken of as wrong, while wrong is
elevated to the status of law. We ask you to have mercy upon our land and keep us from war.”

Leader: Let righteousness flow down like a mighty river upon our Nation.
People: Many are the afflictions of the righteous Christians and Jews, but the Lord delivereth
him out of them all.
Leader: Renew in us a contrite heart.
People: The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in Him shall be
desolate.
Leader: We pray that the leaders of our nation would turn once again to You, to seek counsel,
to hear Your voice and to vote in righteousness over our nation.
People: The righteous cry, and the Lord Heareth.”
