FrameMaker template generator
Help and tools for using FrameMaker at the ITSO can be found on the "Information
for New
Residents" page at- http://w3.itso.ibm.com/itsoapps/Redbooks.nsf/pages/w3newres?
Open
or from the "(?)FM Help" button in the document where you created the above files
in the
Redbooks database.

~ Recommended directory structure when creating a Redbook, Redpaper,
Redguide or Redpov ~

Make a directory for the Redbook, Redpaper, Redguide, Redpov called: SG24nnnn or
REDPnnnn
SG24nnnn/REDPnnnn Place the FrameMaker files (.book, .fm) in this

directory. Place the cover file's
referenced graphics (CoverImage.png, Flag1.ai and
Flag2.ai) in this directory.
Under SG24nnnn or REDPnnnn create a sub-directory
structure:
images Place your referenced (.gif, .jpg, .png, .pdf, etc)
images here.
"subdir" If you have multiple chapters create one sub-directory
per chapter like
\chapter1 or \chapter2 and place your images (.gif,
.jpg, .png, etc).
Note: Only FrameMaker referenced images are Zip-ed using
the Toolkit Zip tool.
addmat Special directory for OLE linked graphics,
PowerPoint(.ppt), Visio(.vsd), Freelance(.prz)
and other files you want to include in the Zip and
archive at final publish.
Note: If you have OLE links, they MUST go into \addmat
or they will not get Zip-ed
using the Toolkit Create Zip tool.
Note: The entire "addmat" directory is Zip-ed using the
Toolkit Create Zip tool
including any sub-directories.
Optional directories:
backup Move the *.backup.fm files to this backup directory now
and then.
skeleton Keep the skeleton files here in case you have to
recreate a file.
docu This is where you can put documents for residents,
reading
material, specifications, etc.
pdf Keep the PDF file of the book outside of the frame
directory.
sampcode All the sample code that will go to the Additional
Materials website
FTP directory, just ZIP sampcode for the FTP site.
"subdir" Other sub-directories as needed.

The following files are returned by the skeleton generator. The skeletons are all
large (8.5"x11").
Some FM files are optional and others are required, depending on the type of
deliverable that you
are creating. You can open the .book file in FrameMaker and rearrange, add or
delete files as appropriate.
???? = (SG24,REDP,GG24,etc)
nnnn = the material's 4-digit number
Yes = required file for .book
x = do not include in .book (when published)
- = optional file for .book
+ = this file's contents are generated by FrameMaker
