This tutorial presents the optimal strategies for building a Mage hero who can take an offensive stance

during battle in Eternium gameplay. Though there are countless permutations on building an Offensive
Mage hero, it is recommended that a new player follow these prescriptions in order to complete all 40
stories & achieve Level 70 for this hero build, while maximizing gameplay satisfaction.

(1) TARGET STATS

A powerful “Offensive Mage” is recommended for Slot 3 of the Heroes page. As the Mage class is
inherently powerful (i.e., high on Damage), the overall strategy for this hero build is to “maximize
damage & increase recovery” throughout its mission until champion level. To this end, the following
directions are proffered to the new player.

(1.1) Build characteristics

The following hero characteristics are to be focused upon for the Offensive Mage build in the given
order of decreasing priority:

 Priority 1—Damage
 Priority 2—Recovery
 Priority 3—Toughness.

(1.2) Build attributes

The following character stats are to be focused upon for the Offensive Mage build in the given order of
decreasing priority:

 Priority 1—
o Weapon Damage
o Haste
o Power
o Critical Rating
o Critical Damage
 Priority 2—
o Armor
o Life On Hit
o Dodge Rating
 Priority 3—
o Total Life
o Vitality
o Ability Rating
o Movement Speed.

Block Rating is not useful whatsoever for this build.

(2) SUITABLE COMPANIONS

The following team is to be formed to support the hero in battle for the Offensive Mage build:

(3) TARGET GEAR

The following gear are to be collected/ Crafted, Reforged, and Socketed for the Offensive Mage build.

(3.1) Standard battle gear

The following body armor & weapons are to be looted/ Crafted for the Defensive Warrior build:

 Head—Helm/ Hood/ Hat

 Neck—Necklace
 Shoulders—Shoulder Pads
 Chest—Tunic
 Back—Cape
 Arms—Gloves
 Legs—Pants
 Feet—Boots
 Fingers—2 Rings
 Right Hand—Staff/ Sword/ Axe/ Mace
 Left Hand—Tome.

As mentioned before, the Mage can also wield a shield. However, for the Offensive Mage, the “tome”
would contribute the Weapon Damage stat, making the build more offensive.

(3.2) Special battle gear

The following special gear items (up to Legendary item) are to be looted/ purchased for the Offensive
Mage build:

 Set Items:
o Archanist Set = 4 pieces
o Apprentice Set = 2 pieces
 Named Items:
o Carnaval Cape
o Elban's Sceptre mace
o Necronomicon tome/ Rylocke's Deflectors shield
 Living Item:
o Stormblade sword

(3.3) Battle gear stats

The following specific stats (listed for up to Legendary-grade gear) are to be Reforged in the battle
gear of the Offensive Mage build:

 Helm, Shoulder Pads, Tunic, Gloves, Pants & Boots with—

o Armor
o + Haste
o + Power
o + Critical Rating
o + Life On Hit
 Cape with—
o Armor (as base stat)
o + Dodge Rating
 o + Armor (as bonus stat)
o + Vitality
o + Life On Hit
 Weapons with—

It must be noted that—in addition to the aforementioned stats—Movement Speed & Ability Rating stats
need to be included by upgrading the passive Abilities of Fleet Footed & Intense Training
respectively.

(4) TARGET ABILITIES

The following battle skills are to be upgraded from Rank 1 to 10 as soon as possible as they become
available for the Offensive Mage build:

3. Death From Above
 Passive—
1. Celerity
2. Glass Cannon
3. Power Infusion.

To increase Toughness & Recovery of this delicate build, Endurance & Tough As Nails need to be
upgraded in reserve as well.

It must be noted that—in addition to the aforementioned Abilities—Fleet Footed & Intense Training
must be upgraded for Movement Speed & Cooldown Reduction respectively.

As the Mage class is inherently fragile, some emergency defensive Abilities—such as Time Warp,
Blink, and Singularity—may be upgraded & kept in reserve for deploying in high-risk boss fights.
