If the Danes today voted for a referendum on Danish

EU membership, it would end with a comfortable victory for the yes-side.

According to a study by Epinion for DR News, 55 would

28 percent of Danes would vote no for EU membership. The
means that the yes side would have a head start of 27 percentage points if there
was a referendum on EU membership today.

The support for Denmark's membership of the EU has thus grown significantly,
since a majority of British voters decided that Britain
must leave EU cooperation.

More EU skepticism for brexit

Then Epinion May 24, 2016 - ie one month before the British
referendum - asked the Danes how they would vote for one
referendum on Danish EU membership, voters' support was one
significantly lower.

44 percent of Danes then told Epinion that they would vote yes,
while 37 percent would vote no.

In other words, one month before the British referendum on 23.

June 2016, the yes side in Denmark had only a head start of 7 percentage points,
if there had also been a Danish referendum on EU-
membership.

Today - one year before Britain leaves the EU - so is the side of the yes-side
grown.

Civilian voters were against

There are especially two categories of voters who have ski an attitude towards
the question of Danish EU membership in the 22 months that have passed
between the two measurements.

Back in 2016, a majority of the bourgeois voters actually opposed a Danish

EU membership. The epinion measurement shows that 47 percent of those who wanted to
Tick one of the parties in blue block also would vote against a Danish
EU membership, while only 40 percent of the bourgeois voters wanted
have voted yes in May 2016.

The picture has changed significantly and if there had been
referendum on EU membership in March 2018, showing the latest
Epinion measurement that 55 percent of bourgeois voters would vote for
a Danish EU membership, while 32 percent of the bourgeois voters
would vote against.

Young people have a sense of skiing

Another significant change is the backing of EU membership among

young voters. Back in May 2016 there was a dead race among voters in
age group 18-34 years. 39 percent of young voters supported an EU-
membership, while 39 percent opposed.

In the latest Epinion measurement, the picture has also changed significantly. IN
Today, 50 percent of the 18-34 year old vote for a Danish EU-
membership, while 23 percent would vote against.

The Epinion measurement does not show what has caused the Danes to ski e
attitude towards EU membership.

However, it is not possible to say whether it is British

referendum or other factors that have influenced the Danish voters,
so that today they are significantly more positive towards a Danish EU-
membership than they were the month before the British Brexit vote.

There is today exactly one year to Britain leaving the EU. It will take place on 29.
