A DREAM AND BEYOND

I am always haunted by strange feelings about life, the way it is. I see a lot of misery

and suffering everywhere. People deprived or denied of the basic things, children

subjected to hardship and in acute want of things they should have at that age.

Grownups fighting tooth and nail for survival. Physical agonies, suffering caused due

to being left without care, and so on.

If the resources available in the universe were to be judiciously distributed, maximum

hardships would have gone. The other aspects of man – made miseries can be

mitigated by a change of mind. If we analyze the root cause, it centres around basic

human instincts, Possession, Lust, Vengeance and violence; Is it necessary that we

beget only when we become selfish, violent, cruel, and intolerant. Can we not be

metamorphosed in to a different human race where we have kind, humane, tolerant

and compassionate approach. This and many more complex questions have left me

sleepless on many a nights, disturbed, perplexed and uneasy.

But that was a different night. I slept well and as things would have it, I had a divine

dream. The dream was so encouraging that I wanted to continue sleeping as any break

would bring me back to my existing self. I was doing my routine chores during the

dream.

I dreamt that when I got up from sleep, to my surprise I found that the main gate to

my apartment was open a - jar. I came out and saw all my neighbors walking towards

a centrally located building. I asked my brother as to how the main gate was left open

in the night to which he looked at me with great astonishment? He asked me, what did

I mean by the gate being left open? Gates are always left open for every house, so that
any of our fellow citizen passes through the place and needs anything like water, food

or some rest, he can freely enter .When I asked him why all my neighbors were going

towards that building , to which he asked me what was wrong with me and why I was

asking all these questions? He told me that since I have been sleeping late, I was late

for breakfast and that all the neighbors walking towards the building were going

for breakfast as that building was our community kitchen, where we all had our meals

daily. Anyway, during the sleep, dreaming as it was, I prepared myself to go for

breakfast. Outside that community kitchen, there was a fleet of vehicles in which my

neighbors were boarding after their breakfast. I was told that these vehicles will take

them to their respective places of work. I, too had to board my vehicle to my work

place. The vehicles, by their very look, were very expensive to travel and I enquired

about the money that I had to pay for my travel my question was a surprise to all as to

what I was talking about? payment for what, and to whom, was the immediate

question to me and also the mode of payment? Nobody present there had ever heard of

a word like payment I was told that the transport service was the social service to all

citizens of that area and the society was taking care of all the needs of all citizens

across the globe, the way I was rendering my services to the society as a convener of

the social centre. This way, we were doing our bit to contribute to the society with our

capability and capacity.

After my breakfast was over, I walked towards one of the parked vehicles and was

about to board it when the vehicle attendant came to me and guided me to other

vehicle. He told me that my route was different. During the sleep, dreaming all this, I

was gliding in a different world where the total environment was so conducive, people

so friendly and helpful. I boarded my vehicle and after travelling about 45 minutes, I

reached a building where I was requested to get down. That was my office. It was
around 9:30 in the morning. It was a typical place. There was no look of a routine

office. There was no attendance, no security, no routine office atmosphere, no files,

only umpteen Nos. of telephones ringing at intervals. I asked one of the persons as to

what that office was about, to which he looked at me with surprise, smilingly he told

me that it was the area control office, which controls and monitors the complete

activities for that area like housing, food, shelter, education, health, clothing, sports,

old age care etc. for all the citizens living in a radius of 100 Kms. I was told that I was

the convener for all education related schemes and programmes.

The office had computer details of all the residents living within its jurisdiction .Their

names, age, sex, address, blood group, health history, education and present

occupation. All citizens had a house allotted to them with standard facilities common

for one and all. Special care was taken that all members of the family lived together

and the size of the accommodation was as per the family size. There was special focus

on the ambience and it was made sure that each house had an open space for

gardening and vegetation. If a family had any elderly person, necessary facility was

provided, where the elderly ones could spend their time suited to their hobbies. A very

strange thing that I noticed in the housing arrangement was that none of the house

had a kitchen. I found that with a block of fifty houses each, there was a huge

common kitchen where each family would have its day’s meals. The purpose was to

maintain parity in the quality of food for all citizens. There were community provision

stores attached to the community kitchen, which had all the house hold items except

the kitchen stuff. The citizens could take anything they wanted from the community

provision stores and keep it at their apartment for any odd hour emergency. There was

only one attendant at each provision store to guard it against any animal entering it

and to keep it neat and well organized. The stores were full with a variety of items
including things that the children like the most.

In the housing arrangement, with a block of every 500 houses, there was a night

shelter with all facilities which could easily accommodate up to ten persons at a time.

These nights shelters were provided for any passer by citizens from other

places so that in case they required some rest or a night halt, they could have a

comfortable stay. Each shelter was attended by a person who would make sure that

the citizens occupying it were looked after well. In case of late night arrivals when the

community kitchen was closed, each shelter had ready to eat snacks so that the

citizen could have something to eat.

There was another common building which had a library, a gym, a medical centre, a

telephone booth with universal call facility. All the facilities were so efficiently

managed as though people were managing their own affairs.

When I had understood the housing arrangement for the citizens, my next interest was

to understand about the education system. Each Community establishment had a

school complex which had play school to nursery. Every child depending upon the age,

was given education, food, recreation, sports, extracurricular and everything that any

standard public school of my real life provides today. The only difference was that

there was no fixed uniform; children had an option to pursue their own interest.

There was no test, no grade system, no examination, and no home work.

The higher schools were situated with a citizen population of 50,000 each and had a

facility to teach all streams. Again a students had to decide the study that they

wanted to pursue, as per interest. Here also there was no examination system. The
student could switch over to any new study at any stage.Colleges were situated with a

citizen population of 1 Lac. There was a common complex which had different stream

like science, engineering, medical, humanities, sports, space science, aeronautical,

agriculture, architecture, and infrastructure development and so on. Typically there

was no subject like commerce, exports, accounting, and insurance. There was special

focus on infrastructure development, space science, geology, civil engineering, dams,

and water conservation. There was uniform syllabus across globe, all subjects were

uniformly taught everywhere with the same standard. The standard of education,

books, facilities, labs, R &D had a uniform pattern. The purpose was that since the

whole world was a large and extended family, children, young people, research

scientist, apprentice etc. travelling to any corner of the globe could have continuity in

their education and other related pursuits.

There was no system of any admission form, interview and anybody could

walk in any school / College and start the studies. There was a typical system where

every student / citizen would write their thought and place it in the convention hall.

Each such observation was thoroughly scrutinized and was passed on to the experts

for further development and exploration. The subjects Experts had their details

on line and as per requirement they could travel to any corner of the Earth for

lectures, giving any consultation, or providing advanced help in R&D. The facilities

available across the earth were maintained in strict standards so that the change of

place for an expert should not effect the continuity of the effort.

Citizen had immense love, respect and compassion for each other. A suffering, be it

physical or otherwise, was taken by other as their own and everybody started working

on it, the best way to remedy it. Strangely, I did not see any Temple, Mosque, Church,
Gurudwara, or any symbol which we call a place of worship. Citizens had only one

religion or feeling which they call was service and love to all the human being on the

earth. Citizens were consciously aware of the divine forces and the worship to them

was through the service of their brotheren and all other living creatures. I saw no

posters, hoardings, or any symbols that divide people in thought or belief. If at all

there was any religion, it was to serve one and all with complete dedication and

geneunity of the kind that did not require any show off. Everything was so natural and

spontaneous as though the human race was evolved on this Earth to help each other

and make life as graceful and as comfortable, as it could be.

Each citizen as said earlier, had their complete details on line, like education, area of

interest, expertise, Area Code in which living, the sub area code, and location code

where the citizen normally resided .Special information was about any

research/Invention/Innovation done by that citizen and this information was available

on each subjects.

The Industry was run on a very simple theory. Any citizen, as per the expertise and

Interest, could collate all information online for any manufacturing / Development

activity. For example If a citizen had an idea to manufacture a car which can float on

sea, run on road, or fly in the air, one just had to click a mouse to gather the related

information. It’s Design, technology, Components, engineering etc. all information was

available on line. One had to see further as to who was working on this project and

this information too was available on line. The citizen had a choice either to Co – opt

with the already developed model, or one could start its own. The only effort to be

made was to collect all information and the facility where this project could be started.

If it was to be a new project, Citizen first had to select a place and inform all
concerned online, like the project team, the technical team, the component

manufacturer etc. to create the basic facility.

When I was enjoying this great dream there was a loud siren sound which suddenly

woke me up. My dream had left me pondering over many basic things I was wondering

if what I had dreamt could become a reality and change the style of living for the

human race upon the earth. Why we all cannot live as one entity. What is the ultimate

of the human life? The death and nothing else, and if that was the case what prompts

us to behave and conduct in an in human manner. Why can’t we live in peace?

Competition is the basic human instinct but the outcome of all our competitive efforts

aims around making human life comfortable with our inventions and attainments and

thereby making our life a little more comfortable and provided for, as compared to

others. If we expand the canvas of this theory a little further, than we can still live a

comfortable life without being a cut throat. If the human race is temperamentally

transformed in to a situation where they think, but for common good, where they act,

but for common welfare, where they invent, but for common comfort, where they

produce, but for common consumption, where they see everyone else as a large and

extended family, where they weep on the agony of others, where they heal every

wound, where they rejoice others’ happiness, where giving is the greatest joy, where

they treat every human being as a part of their own existence, where everything

belongs to everyone, where everyone belongs to the society in the last corner of the

globe to which one belongs, where whatever one thinks aims at common growth,

where one sees the face of almighty in one and all, where the mind is without

fear,(QUOTE) where everything happens for everybody. If that is not possible in real

life, I want the whole population of this world to sleep and sleep long to dream things

happening, the way I was dreaming, and cherish it to bring to a reality. It requires a
very little but sincere effort to discard all evils and start living differently. We were

born with nothing. A combined effort of the society brought us to a level, where we are

today. When we leave this world we leave it empty handed and all that we have

amassed, all that we struggled for, all that for which we committed every type of crime,

remains here. What we leave is just a bad and dangerous legacy. It is now the time

that we shed all Vices, Criminal Acts, both mental and physical, and start taking

everything as the gift of nature, and develops it further for larger benefit of the human

kind. The manifestation of my dream is possible only with a completely changed mind

or otherwise it is just forgotten as a fiction. Would we like to forget our great dreams

as a piece of fiction or should be try to develop this dream baby in a fully grown and

developed reality? The choice is ours or else some supernatural force one day will

finish everything that we have created out of our criminal tendencies.

Imagine a world which has no currency, no trade, no licenses, no possession, no visa,

no boundaries, no government, no political parties, no army, no arms and

annumitions, no bombs, no terrorism, no political ideology, no border disputes and so

on. Let us take currency first, which is the mode of a financial transaction or buying

anything for that matter. When everything belongs to everyone, who will buy and from

whom. A small example will set this perception right. Suppose an industry has to be

set up for which one requires a project, Land, Technical Know – How , plant and

machinery, raw material, manpower, working capital and a market which will buy

this product. In my dream of a new world the citizen will produce the things for

themselves, keeping in view the demand and consumption of that product. In this new

world there is no ownership right of anything for anyone. Citizen identify the need and

people with similar expertise and know how assemble to implement the project. The

land belongs to all and therefore this project can be set up anywhere depending upon
the strategic value and use. The online data is available for everything that is required

to start this project. If a similar project is already on way in a particular sub area of

the globe and keeping in view the volume that will be required for general

consumption, a cluster of such manufacturing item will be planned by like -

expertised citizens in that particular region, as proximity will smoothen the

manufacture process. The next question will be mobilization of resources for this

project. The online information available will guide the citizens to call for required

things from any corner of the world. The resources are common, facilities are common

and belong to one and all, and thus the required things will be air transported or sent

by road depending upon the distance .The citizens are always very eager to help each

other. The items produced will be dispatched to everywhere in the world as per

requirement.

When society takes care of all the needs of everybody with excellent standards to

ensure a quality life, the citizens will always be enthusiastic to give back the society

their best. Since there is no concept of individual ownership of anything by anyone in

this world, the total energy will be channelized towards creating a best life for

every citizen on this earth and make the world a beautiful place to live as an extended

family. I know it may sound Utopia but as I said earlier, it requires a complete change

of mind - a mind which has no violence, no hate, no ownership, no cruelity, and no

politics.

The day went by in routine work and the dream overpowering my complete

thought process. I wanted to sleep as early as I could, as I wanted to catch up with the

dream that I had the previous night. There is a saying that we normally dream what
has been preoccupying our subconsious. I was trying to find answer to many natural

and obvious questions in my mind in the hope that the ideal world of dream could

give me, one. The memory of the siren sound was fresh in my mind and I wanted to

connect it with what I shall dream this night. Perhaps my longing to catch up with it

was so intense that the last dream started recapitulating. When I asked the citizen

attendant about the siren sound, he told me that there was some natural calamity in

the western area of the Globe in sub – area 03561. I could not understand the whole

arrangement and wanted to know the system on which it works. I was told that in

each community centre across the globe there was a control room which had a map of

the globe divided in Area/Sub – Area. Each Area had a code with a sub – area code as

per the location of the place. There was a very strong censor system which will send a

red alert across the Globe if there was an incidence of earth quakes, flood, cloud

burst, huge land slide or volcanic eruption. Depending upon the location of the

calamity occured, the sirens in a radius of 1000 km will start blowing and the rescue

team available in that particular area will rush to the spot for rescue operations. This

siren sound was a transmitted one from a different sub – area which was around 5000

Kms from that place. The rescue team, specially trained and equipped to tackle high

magnitude earth quakes started running to the parked vehicles, I was told that the

very same time, about 100 such teams should be rushing from their respective

locations across the Globe to the sight of emergency. The rescue team going from our

sub – area consisted of 15 experts on disaster management. Our air base was around

60 Kms from that place and the team had to travel to the air base by road. Quite

inquisitively I also boarded one of the vehicles.

On way to the Air base, the vehicle in which I was travelling broke down around 40

Kms short of the air base. My fellow citizens, who was travelling with me gave a call to
someone and within 10 minutes another vehicle reached us. There was a rescue

vehicle also and the vehicle rescue team immediately took over the breakdown vehicle.

On way to the air base, I saw excellent arrangement of food, water, rest, vehicle

assistance, petrol /Gas stations every 20 kms on the high way. Citizens travelling on

the roads across the globe had the same facilities everywhere, I was told. When we

reached the air base, the citizens managing the air base guided us to the plane that

would take us to the destination. There were no Air tickets, no visa, no security check,

no passport and everything was so normal and natural as though I was travelling in

my own plane in my own country.

After about 5 hours of flying, our plane landed at an air base and within minutes I

saw a fleet of helicopters reaching us to take us to the area where the rescue operation

were on. I saw about 500 citizens busy in the operation who had come from the

different parts of the globe for a common purpose – to help their brotheren in their

time of need. The local rescue teams were taking the rescued citizens to the shelters

for medical aid and other help required. Each sub area had adequate provision of

everything needed in such emergencies, food, shelter, medical aid, clothing,

equipments and all. The earthquake was of a very high magnitude and it had left a few

citizens dead. After the rescue operations were over, all the citizens who had reached

there from different sub – areas, assembled to mourn the dead citizens and to give

them a graceful and respectable burial. The sight was so moving as though everybody

had lost his close family members and was praying for their souls to rest in

peace.

After the operation was over, we all assembled in a large auditorium and came to

know that environment experts and town planners across the globe had assembled
There, in the meanwhile. I was told that the area where the earthquake had occurred

was very prone to such calamities and the world citizens were planning that the

population of that area should be shifted and settled to such area / sub – area which

were safe for human inhabitation. The globe areas / sub – area had many places

where the density of the population was very low and more cities could be developed

without disturbing the environment. The plan was to continue using those prone areas

for other purpose, and rehabilitate the citizens to safer places. Since the globe was one

large geographical entity and since every place and every resource belonged to the

citizens at large across the globe, it was possible to implement it. As a matter of fact

the team of experts was working on many such projects which will identify the climate

or the areas endangering the human race and shift them to places which were

conducive to human inhabitation. Our team reached back to our sub – area after

things had started settling down in the quake effected area.

I had resumed my work. In the other aspect of the social structure, I was

flabbergasted to find that the social fabric was so well – knit and committed that

special care was taken by the citizens to look after and take care those, who had some

physical infirmity, who were blind or who had no immediate family. I saw no beggar

anywhere. There was no one seen on the roads who was physically handicapped, was

a destitute or a blind person. A little further enquiry in to it revealed that if a citizen

was unfortunately handicapped, the society took special care of their needs. Such

citizens was not left unattended any time, whatsoever. All his needs were fulfilled by

the society and the special care was taken for the education as per the area of interest.

If a visually handicapped citizens had an immediate family, the citizens lived with and

if for whatever reason the citizen had no immediate family, other citizens were always

eager to include them as their family members. No such citizens had separate
institutions or abode’ like home for blind etc. The society took extra care to provide

them a graceful and respectable life and encouraged them to pursue their area of

interest or hobbies like any other citizens.

The physically handicapped had special aids provided to them in their apartments to

make their life as normal and as comfortable as possible. Any family, which had a

physically handicapped member, was always given an apartment on the ground floor.

Each public transport had a special provision for such citizens, so that they could

travel comfortably and if they so desired to attend to their vocation also.I did not see

even for reference, any orphanage or a home for destitute. If a citizens child had no

parents, any family was always eager for adoption and give the love and care needed at

that age .Special care was taken to make everyone feel that the society cares and loves

all human beings on the earth.

Citizens who had unfortunately widowed and if they so wished, they could freely start

their family, without any social binding or stigma. I saw a number of families’ data,

where all members were living as a closely knit unit after the second marriage of the

male / female citizens. There was no concept of step relationship. There were no

records or cases of divorce also.

The system of governance worked on a very simple theory. The globe is one entity, a

place of habitation for all living being without its division in to continent, country, race

or anything that creates distance and distinction. All resources available across globe

belong to the society at large and thereby to all human being. No one has right of

property anywhere as it belongs to one and all. There is no buying or selling of

anything, no trade. Citizens have access to any corner of the earth at free will, and to

anything as per need. Everybody creates for the use of all citizens anywhere. The need,

of the world remain the same as they are, but it’s fulfillment is in a different way,
where everybody has access to everything. A simple theory that we produce together

and consume together irrespective of where we come from and from which part of the

globe. People everywhere in the globe work to their best capacity and capability and

society always strives to make its life as comfortable and as provided for, as possible.

The society had no threat from anyone as the whole globe was one large extended

family. They come together to face any challenges, thrown by the nature, in any form

and in turn they make special endeavor to maintain the nature’s balance.

I saw no overcrowding of cities. Rather there was no concept of a city or village or

metro or a town. Where ever there was inhabitation, the citizens had all the facilities

available across the globe. Citizens were engaged in their area of interest wherever

they lived, as there was nothing likes employment. On the contrary, it was an

engagement for one and all as per their capabilities and capacity. I did not find

anyone, who was idlying away the time when other citizens were working. Everybody

was so enthusiastic to remain productive and creative that I was moved by the very

sight of it. No engagement was taken as how, minial or that of high importance.

Citizens cleaning the roads through mechanical devices were as dignified as the space

scientist as both these extreme end situations had one common goal – Their

commitment to serve the society. Attendants at community centers, kitchens, Public

utility places, road side facilities, power houses, eateries and hospitals had the same

facility as specialists of any subject or area. The concept was that everyone

contributed as per their capacity and the society provided them all, what was required

to maintain the best living standards. It was like a family where all the member were

treated equally.

Insecurity, greed, competition, tendency for hoarding and possession normally creates
a situation of rush. In the social structure of my dream, I did not find any rush for

anything, anywhere. Everything was so well disciplined and organized, that everybody

seemed helping everybody else. Citizens were so considerate that they will take only

what was required from the society stores and what was required was guided by the

simple philosophy that what was available, was meant for everybody else. Perhaps it

was the reason that I found that across the globe there was never a situation where

supplies for any item were short. The social distribution network had a monitoring

system where inventory levels of all items across the globe were available on line area

wise / sub area wise.

TO BE CONCLUDED THROUGH A COLLECTIVE AND SELFLESS

ACTION OF MY FELLOW CITIZENS OF THIS GREAT EARTH.
