If you have a virus that creates a shortcut in your flash drive, you may recover the files but find
that the "System Volume Information" folder doesn't get deleted, even if you delete it. With a
little extra work, you can remove it.

1 Wait for the PC to detect the flash drive.

2 Note the drive letter of the flash drive. For example I: or K: or F:

3 Open Command Prompt (Search cmd or press Windows Key+R).

4 In the Command Prompt enter cd\ and then when it shows C:\ Enter the drive
letter of the flash drive followed by : (eg: k:). Notice the director will change from the
default to the directory of the flash drive. At first if it shows C:/Windows/System32. It will
now change to the drive letter of the flash drive.

5 Type the following sentence as it is: r m d i r "system v o l u m e

i n f o rmation" / s / q

6 Open the flash drive and confirm that the folder is no longer present. You can
even unhide it using the attrib command in CMD, and it won't be there.

Windows recreates this file every time you plug in. So you actually delete the folder but
Windows makes a new one.

"Clean Slate" that folder using admin commands. You can also scan for other folders like
that using sfc/scannow in the admin prompt.
