Digital Rubrics

The assigned rubric focused on the development of a cereal box. The students had to create a
cereal box that fit the components relating to surface area and volume. The students started
with a worksheet that asked them to describe their cereal box in the making. They also had to
take the dimensions of the original cereal box that they would use as a model. During the
project, the students not only had to create a cereal box, but they had to design it as well. The
original rubric was very basic and it hit the main components of the overall project, but it
missed detail and the digital component of the assignment. Below is the example of the rubric
that I gave to my students.

Requirements Points

Planning Page 20 points

The Planning Page must contain at least 2 possible dimensions that meet all of
the requirements for the project. Surface area, volume and cost must all be
calculated correctly.

3D Box 10 Points
Box must be built correct and measure exactly as your dimensions on the
planning page. The box must be neat.

Design of the Box 10 points

The cereal box must have a name and the design should be neat, colorful and
aesthetically pleasing.

Paragraph 10 points
The paragraph must clearly state why you chose the dimensions that you did
for your box. The paragraph must not contain any spelling or grammar errors.
The paragraph must contain at least 5 sentences.
