Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The lesson plan is designed to quiz the students on their knowledge
about the elected U.S officials after previously learning about them and watching a refresher video. I could
extend my teaching by making this lesson more accessible to all students by recording my voice and having it
play over the questions as we go through the quiz. This would allow students who have difficulty with reading
be able to hear what I’m saying, rather than struggle to read the question and fall behind their classmates. I
can also change the settings on specific students’ devices to help students who are visually impaired. This
way, they will not only be able to hear what I’m saying, but they will also be able to select their answer
without any help from me or their classmates.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. Before this activity, we would have already had at least one or two lessons over the content
discussed. The purpose of this activity is to see where each of my children stand and how we can reach the
next level based off of their knowledge level. The prior lessons include discussing who the President,
Governors, and Mayors are of our country and state, and what their roles are. They also should have learned
where they work. This follows the standards.

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: There are no ‘materials’ needed other than a
response tool that the students need (such as an iPad or computer). The teacher will have their computer and
projector to set up the Kahoot assessment. The students will log in by using the given code and answer the
questions to the best of their knowledge. The activity should not be more than 5 or 6 minutes, granted the
teacher will discuss some questions/answers after they are compelted.

Why or why not? Kahoot lets each individual student know what they got right or wrong on their own
personal device. It does not show it on the board for the whole class to see. This is why I like Kahoot, since
each student can see what they need to work on, as well as the teacher. However, there isn’t an embarassing
component to it where the whole class sees what everyone is answering.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After the activity, I plan on going back and looking at
the collected data to see what my students are getting right and wrong. This will allow me to work with
students on certain things to help prepare them for the summative assessment. I would also like to go back
and retake this Kahoot quiz after we complete the summative assessment to see if the students retained any
of the information that we worked on.

How will the data be used? Like previously stated, the data will be used to see how ready my students are
for the summative test.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My personal learning goal is to increase student
engagement and response with this activity. I am hoping that each student will want to participate more,
since the Kahoot quiz is more of a game than a boring assessment.
Reflective Practice: The purpose of this is to see how prepared my students are prior to the summative
assessment. It is to see what they retained from the previous lesson or two about the given topic. I would like
to further extend this activity to another program, such as NearPod (previously discussed) by allowing
students to be more interactive with the activity, rather than simply answering questions and receiving
points. On NearPod, there are tons of different activities that they can work on individually or as a group.
